Challenges and Contests are only for finished images. And as you guessed, the upload is anonymous, so we don't show wips before (otherwise where is the anonymouity?). What is done in the Rhino Forum is OK for them. Our rules are different:-) And don't hitate to participate to a challenge, even as a beginner. If you don't win, you always can learn here. Welcome! Guitta
You can use imported models, make your own, use imported textures, postwork or no postwork. Gebe encourages less use of postwork for challenge images, but you can use as much as you feel you want to. The monthly challenges are pretty loose; the only rules to follow are on the Theme page.
A long time ago (more than one year ago) there were 2 different things each month: - the challenge (approx same rules as now) - the sub challenge (which was a kind of exercise) The sub challenge is more or less the kind of stuff you are requesting EricClaeys, and probably a good thing to improve user knowledge, allowing to show the progress and asking for other advices. We could suggest to try again the sub challenge if not interacting with the challenge (different images must be shown in the two, since the author of a challenge picture must remain anonyus) If we ask to sub-challenge participants to post their work directly in the forum, it will not increase Guitta's spent time. If someone else is interested (I'm not really interested myself ;=) ), that could be an interesting proposal... Yves

I was curious if work-in-progress (WIP) images are allowed for the challenge. Since the artists must remain anonymous, it seems WIP's are not permitted. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea that the voters don't get to know who the artists are, but it makes the competition very distant and far from interactive: In the Rhino3D forum we use 'work-in-progess' posts to show the community our evolution - learning and teaching as we advance. Also, it is proof that the image was not made ahead of time and created within the allotted month. A lot of what I learn, at least, comes from seeing how other people work and think. Just a question, I hope that didn't come off too strongly. I was really just curious after all. I only ask because I am becoming very interested in Vue and may purchase it - soon after, taking part in the challenges. Thanks!
