Subject: a texture question and a lighting question.

First the texture question. A couple of days ago I posted a message about having two sets of eybrows. Poser was creating eyebrows on my chick's forehead instead of on her eyebrows. Someone suggested I make sure the texture was applied to everything. It turns out it wasn't so I changed it. But it's still doing it. I have the same texture on everything, but when I render, another set of eyebrows appears right just slightly above the other ones. Second, I see pictures like "For your eyes only," "katrinka," and "golden girl" and I'm left wondering, "How the Hell are they getting their lights so soft? I asked this before and someone suggested setting the map size to 1024. I've found that this changes nothing, or if it is changing anything it must be so small I can't see it. So what's the secret here? Bushi, I tried your suggestion and I still am not seeing any change. Do I need to change all my lights to spot lights?

Make sure that the material that your texture is on is white. The eyebrows (upper and regular) should aquire your map this way. Soften a poser render... Try using the depth cue. It's a bit tricky but the effect can be well worth it. (hint: place an object, sphere perhaps, behind your figure and manipulate its z position. You can create a definity feeling of depth. The only other way to soften, that I know of, is to do some post work. Visque

As visque says object colors have to be white, but not just skin. Open up surface materials and go thru the list of body parts....skin, eyebrowa, nipples etc..and turn them one by one to white. You'll see the difference. Also for some bizarre reason, there are two of some (ie eyebrows) Make sure you have them both on white...and save the figure for fiture use with texture maps! Re lighting..as a fashion photographer, I'm driven to despair by Poser's lights. I use one (infinite) directly from the front, and the exact same from behind. The most important setting is your light color. Use a pale reddish-pink for skin tones at 100% intensity. This more or less approximates afternoon sunlight (the best light for gurrrls!!) But post-production is still the best way Go for it! maclean
