THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Polytrans & .3DMF Woes.....

Alright, I've had it with .3DMF files. I want to build a medival city in Bryce using many of the Quickdraw3D models on GreatBuildingsOnline.com, but none of the programs I have can convert them to a usable format, like .3DS. I have a demo of Polytans, and it does the job PERFECTLY! BUT, its about $300+. Most of the models I want translated are not very large. Does anyone have Polytans that can do the job for me? Or, does anyone know of any other way to do this? I haven't found anything else and I'm getting pretty frustrated. I could build the models from scratch, but I am trying to save some time on this project (4 months so far).

I gather the files are in 3dmf (Mac) and you're on a PC 3ds comes into Bryce fast but is limited to size. Perhaps wavefront .obj is the way to go. Do you have any programs which could serve an an intermediary. There are existant some 3d demo/shareware programs which might serve as translators. These can be found via a web search. Let us know what you have to work with as to programs. manowar

I have Ray Dream 5.5, Poser 4, Bryce 4, AutoCAD R14, Crossroads, Pixel 3D, Painter 3D, 3D Exploration, DesignWorkshop Lite, and Rhino. NONE of them can even OPEN a .3DMF file on a PC. Period. I've looked everywhere for shareware/freeware/demo translators. Nothing. Woe is me.
