Subject: Now What Was That That I Bought ??

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 5:33 PM · edited Sat, 25 January 2025 at 7:41 AM

Is anyone else out there so incredibly addicted to Poser that you lose track of what you have purchased ? In my case, I am trying to remember whether or not I have purchased DAZ's Clothing Pak 1. I don't have the foggiest idea how to find this out. I have been back to my account at the DAZ store, and looked up previous purchases, but all they show you is the order number. Pathetic, isn't it ?

AkoSteve ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 5:40 PM

Try scrolling over on your view orders page to the details link. That should give you the actual products on the order.

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 6:01 PM

Umm... have you thought of looking on your computer? mac

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 6:51 PM

AkoSteve :--- I have a long list of purchases thru DAZ. That means I have to click the link for each order one-by-one. Sounds like very hard work. Maclean :--- Umm... yes, of course I have. I've got hundreds of clothing items so I don't know what to specifically look for.

AkoSteve ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 6:54 PM

Yes it's tedious but at least you'll know for sure when you finish checking. :D

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 6:59 PM

Here's a suggestion. All DAZ products have an individual code. Go to DAZ, find the product page and make a note of the package code for the .exe, then search for that code on your HDD. (I assume you keep back-ups of all the .exes, right?) mac

maclean ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 7:01 PM

PS By 'search', I mean use the search function. Right-click the drive or folder. mac

I have all my purchases from Daz on an Excel spreadsheet...copy/paste works very good ;)

pzrite ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 8:49 PM

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Now who wants to confess to actually buying the same item twice by mistake. I haven't done that yet, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later!

queri ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 9:18 PM

I have bought the same item twice-- once by accident, I have a nice voucher waiting for M3 at Daz thanks to the knd lady who caught my mistake. Once by design. I just didnt' want to take the time to search three computers for something bought two years ago-- needed the darn thing now! Mind you, it had recently been reduced in price. I have a harder time remembering the stuff at rdna that I bought-- cause the modualz and Microcosm stuff all sounds alike. Emily

During the recent DAZ sale I had the Vikings on my wishlist. Was hemming and hawing between that and another thing. Bought some other stuff in the meantime and while installing it I found the Vikings in their own folder in Poser. LOL Scratched that off my list. I've purchased the same thing twice at RDNA. They took care of it immediately. I've also purchased something here that I had already gotten at another store. Sigh. When things like that begin to occur more often, it's time to take a breather.

Mathman, here's a real simple way of seeing if you have cloths pack 1, Do you have Vickie's catsuit? if you do, you got the pack

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 05 September 2003 at 11:46 PM

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it was the Michael Clothing Pak 1, not the Victoria pak. I think the best thing for me to do is, as maclean has suggested, is take a note of the code of the product, and then search thru' my backups. The only difference is that I back up all of my Poser goodies on to CD, and also keep a copy of everything on my laptop. It means going thru' about 6 CDs, which is a darn sight better than opening up the details links for all my orders at DAZ. I feel a gripe coming on. Is it just me, or does anyone else find navigating the DAZ site a real pain ?? .... If they were a bit more user friendly they might think about posting the codes of each of the products on the one page. This would avoid the problem. Also, has anyone moved a DAZ item from your wishlist to your cart, only to find you couldn't go back to your wishlist without having to click thru' about 3 or 4 more pages to get back there ?? I'd complain to DAZ themselves about these complaints, except who do you direct the complaints to ? regards, Andrew

I ABSOLUTELY lose track of what I've bought. Thank goodness I've lost track of how much I've spent on all of it too or I'd run screaming into the night...LOL ;o). Laurie

If you have the files: ZygoteClothing/MilMan in your geometries folder you probably have clothing pack 1. You can also search for blDressShirt.obj or blDocL.obj. If you have them, you have the pack. I've not purchased anything twice....yet, but have come close at RDNA :) I also keep a list of the DAZ stuff. It's easier than clicking on the "details" for all those purchases :)

re adding to cart from wishlist. I have some experience here. :) Just click on the button for 'your account' I think it is, then from there you can click on the button for wishlist. Only two clicks. It's been a couple of weeks though, but I think those are the steps.

I have a 9mb excel file going of everything I have either bought or got as a freebee from all of the poser releated sites. If you want I can send you the template I use. It is in Excel 2000 but I can convert it to excel98 if needed.

Don't you people rename the Daz .exe'? I do. Or actually I DID. Finally Daz got the idea and now their stuff has BOTH name and number *L* but the older things, I rename them, an example would be ps_an012.exe which I renamed to ps_an012_Chimp.exe. That way it will show up in a search for both "chimp" and the number (ps_an012). To keep track, I bought a very nifty program called DiskCatalog. You feed your cd's into it, 2 seconds or sp later it has scanned the cd and cataloged it. Then when you need to know which back-up cd you have your chimp om, you open DiskCatalog, search for Chimp and it tell you that it resides on cd #27 (or wherever). There's a free demo of Disk Catalog available, it is fully functional for 2 weeks or so.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

I use Offline CD Browser. It does the exact same thing as Disk Catalog and it's FREE. Link attached

Have the problem of forgetting all the time LOL. Been using that "search for the product code" on a regular basis. Worst of all is that I use only a fraction of it ever. I'd say 20%. (Purchased stuff!) Like LaurieA says - it's scary how much it is. Really scary. :] Fish

"Whereisit?" is another fine disk cataloguing tool to consider. I have over one hundred CD's of Poser-related stuff and I use it all the time. -Alfonso

Heh, I just recently started unzipping/installing stuff I've dowmloaded/bought from the past 2(?) months. As I go through each files, I try to remember why was it that I downloaded/bought that item in the first place. (And I haven't finished some (year old) projects, yet.)

elgyfu ( ) posted Mon, 08 September 2003 at 12:21 AM

I was thinking about making a 'to do' list. Either loose leaf pages in a file or docs on the computer. Each noting things I have brought so that I can glance through for ideas to use them. Example: Hair, Fantasy Clothes, Everyday, Characters, Scenes, Props, Cool Poses. I have also brought things coz I thought they looked awesome then never actually used them - sometimes I come across them when using Poser and think about them but many are sitting there all unloved. Shame on me!
