Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
You can't make nested dirs in poser 4/PP, but there are ways to make life easier. 1. Name your folders using numbers + names. Like... 001 - current project 002 - stuff I use a lot 003 - stuff I use not quite as much That means when you open Pose (or any other library) 001 will be the first folder you see. Numbers take precedence over uppercase, uppercase over lowercase. You can go from 001 - 256. 2. Get rid of the ones you don't use. I have 2 Pose folders, 'Pose' and 'Pass'. All the Poses or MATs I'm using stay in Pose, everything else is left in Pass until I need it. The folders are right next to one another in Runtime/Libraries, but Poser won't see the second one. mac
No, not if you want them visible in Poser. Poser 4 and PP only recognize folders directly under the official library folders. Workarounds are possible. PBooost (in the MarketPlace) is a nifty utility that allows most users to switch folders and groups of folders in & out of Poser during a session. I use P3D0 (freebie file organizer for Poser). to consolidate and rename my Poser files and Folders for better organization and easier access.
The thing thats worked for me is 1.backing up my entire runtime folder 2.uninstalling poser completely 3.making a virgin poser install (boy does that run fast) 4.then picking and choosing various poses,props,figures as I need them 5.copying them from the backup runtime to the actual poser runtime. then you can delete them whenever you want.

im using poser 4 with propack and i was wondering if there is any way to use nested directories to keep my items better organized?
like:
poses->vicki->sitting
figures->mike->clothes->jeans
(hope this make sense). its just driving me nuts that once i get a number of things installed (especially poses) that i have to scroll through a mile long list to get to anything. im a bit of a neat freak when it comes to my file directories anyways, heh.
