Subject: Coming Soon! WILD Cat Morphs & Map Set for the Mil Cat!

Lyne's Creations Wild Cats for the Millennium Cat! I am working on several different WILD cats for the Mil cat... I have added a couple of morphs and done textures so far for a Bob Cat and a Cougar (Mountain Lion). More to come! These are mapped using the template for the Mil cat, with new cr2 figures dialed and morphs added - You MUST have the original Mil Cat installed for the new Wild Cats to work! (or your poser will lock up and/or crash looking for the original cat!)

I plan on at least 3 more wild cats if not more, so the time frame is uncertain, hopefully within two weeks. I also need to do at least a few pre-set poses because each cat will need it's own poses to retain it's dial and morph settings.

And here is the Cougar (Mountain Lion).. these previews are in default Poser 4.3 lighting, no post and no bump maps yet! Here you can see the slight shoulder blade morph I added to the Cougar. (Bobcat has shoulder blades and face ruff morph added)

Ohh...I can see it is time to order from Vista again! Any chance of a lynx, Lyne? Kimberly

lululee ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 8:15 AM

These are great. I'm going to line up for this one. I am still pouting a bit that you don't have a digital download. However, my pout has turned to a smile over the quality your produce. These cat morphs are wpnderful.

Diandra ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 8:24 AM

Just beautiful! Bravo!

Jon ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 8:44 AM

I was hoping someone would do this, so glad it's you Lyne! They look great!!!

noggin ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 8:53 AM

Wow! excellent Lyne_ I'd second Kimberely on the lynx. And how about some panther/cheetah sets? For the poses you just need a MAT/MOR for each species, really easy with most of the MATPose editor utilities these days! I think my list of 'I want/love that...' is getting big enough to put in another order. Don't be put off by the mail order method folks...Lyne is faster than Wyatt Earp in a rowdy saloon! And her models are worth their weight in gold ( well more really_ as they don't weigh anything!) Nigel

gildedgecko ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 1:21 PM

Wow! I was rather unimpressed with the MilCat--I'm not a cat person. But if it can be made to do THAT, shoot. I might have to snatch up both the cat and your morphs :-)

Lyne ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 2:01 PM

Thanks all so much for the encouragement!! It's very different to map the way the mil cat map is laid out, but am learning as I go... As far as WHAT other cats, I do have all the ones mentioned IN MIND and more... but it depends entirely on how the coats work out on actually mapping, plus what I can dial and morph!! If and when each one is finished, then I will preview it here... The mil cat is a dream to work with....so far I only added just the two very subtle morphs as wild cats tend to have prominent shoulder blades, while domestic cats do not... Well as they say..."stay tuned" and I will "keep you posted" ! ;) Lyne

Cool! These additions should go well with the Victoria/Millennium Cat hybrid I'm piecing together.

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 4:31 PM

I can honestly say I'm looking forward to these wild cats more than I am Mike 3. They are fabulous. The faces are just amazingly lifelike. Wonderful job.

noggin ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 5:23 PM

Lyne if your 'learning as you go..' with the 'run-over cat map' you are learning fast! Beautifully mapped and not a seam in sight_ I can't wait to see the rest of what you have planned. I was a bit sceptical about the mill cat until I played with it a bit_ it poses pretty nicely and the morphs take it in to a new league (as you can see from Lyne's images).

dragongirl ( ) posted Tue, 09 September 2003 at 6:19 PM

These are wonderful - going to be a great addition to Poser-dom! :-)

Lyne, The mountain lion is great. You might want to add a little more bulk to the legs though. They do have very muscular legs as in the pic above. Just a suggeston. Keep up the great work.

nyguy ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 12:07 AM

Looks great, but I have been saving my peenies for M3, and if I have pennies left I will be buying the Milcat

Don't forget the Puma too Lyne!

Lyne ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 1:13 PM

cherokee69 Thanks for the note on those legs... can bulk them up a bit more for sure.. also my preview pose here is 3/4 so just a note that his body is long and tail nice and long as shown in your photo! Noggin, I think the Cougar is also called a Puma and a Mountian Lion... all the same name for this type of cat... might be slight variations but aside from PERHAPS doing a lighter map (I have seen them dark like mine and a bit lighter too) this will be the all encompassing "mountian lion" ( can't wait to be done and put him up on the RDNA microcosm red rocks! :)) wrpspeed this will be a WILD cat set only... and there is a pretty tabby in the extra two texture sets at DAZ - those maps are fantasticly real!!.... and I am waiting to see if Diao will do "all her cats" for the mil cat too... IF and when I do a regular cat map set I will keep a tabby coloration like yours in mind... Back to work... Lyne

As LadyLittlefox and her supporters have said in another thread.. CONSTRUCTIVE kindly worded critiques are actually appreciated by artists... at least most of us! :) I have made two versions of each cat map... a lighter version coat (I personally still like the darker cougar, but now I like the lighter little bobcat! :) SEE NEXT MESSAGE I also added bump maps and these renders have nicer lighting with shadows.... I beefed up the cougar's legs as suggested and I like that better too! :)

Now I may disappear for a while as I work on different cats! :)

These are all looking great Lyne, your info about the Puma drove me to the Dorling Kindersley handbook of mammals, and wow there are so many wild cat species! I'd love to see you do an Ocelot (S.America) Marbled Cat (S E Asia) African Golden Cat, Jaguarundi (S.America)Serval (Africa_ if you can get the ears big enough!)

judith ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 5:12 PM

Must be contagious, I was on the net looking for more to add to the collection. :)) Outstanding work so far Lyne! I'll get more use out of this expansion than I would have from the DAZ texture pack.

That's right... 4 feet of Mountain Lion and 3 feet of tail. (They grow large in Montana.) Even at that size, it is considered "a small cat" because it purrs rather than roars. I second the request for an Ocelot... but would very, very much like a Spanish or European Lynx (the kind trained for hunting in Renaissance times). Carolly

Lyne ( ) posted Thu, 11 September 2003 at 12:31 PM

You all have the same "wishes" I do... will do my best... but never make a promise until the map "works" with the mesh the way I think it should... been going through my zoo photos like a crazy woman... our zoo and wild animal park have always had "live shows" where you can get up close and personal with the animal...hubby asked questions and I clicked away fruiously...:)) Back to work!
