THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: ***THE OFFICIAL SEPTEMBER CHALLENGE***

Zhann ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 1:26 AM · edited Mon, 04 November 2024 at 3:18 AM

Okay, I admit it, I have no idea what month it is, (gotta cut back on the caffeine) but we have now the making for the 'September' challenge;

  • it will be a Historical piece, take a 'Page from (recorded) History'

  • it can be any period from the Ancients to Modern Day

  • Use the knowledge gained in the last challenges

  • import models or make your own, if you do make a model for your render it would be nice if it was made available to other Brycers, by uploading to the backroom

  • postwork kept to a minimum

  • on land, sea, the air or in space

  • any time of year

  • landscape, seascape or cityscape, no metaphors, allegories or representations

  • no fantasy images

  • it can be an event (ex; first flight), an object (ex; first airplane), or a person(s) (ex; the Wright Bros.)

  • it is not necessary to use Poser but those who have it can, Flak gave me the link on how he does his 'crowd' scenes here

Anymore questions post in this thread, not the other

If the crowd scenes thing doesn't make sense to you, just ask me... what I wrote could do with a bit less confusination here and there.

I know we are out of wack with the Challenge start/finish. We go ahead as planned, each Challenge will be somewhere around 30 days. *DEADLINE will be October 6th, 10:00p.m. Renderosity time. That gives you all 26 days and 4 weekends from now to finish up. October has nearly 5 weekends, and will help us catch up a little. But, to make sure we don't fall behind this time, the dealine is the deadline, period. I will make announcements about what's going on every other day if I have to, lol. And, voting for the Sept. Challeneg will only be two days, this way we can have 3 weekends (basically) in October to work on the October Challenge. And, November has 5 full weekends. AgentSmith

Sounds good, I've already started

Zhann, do you mean that if I want to do a representation of Plato's cave of shadows that would not be allowed?

Zhann ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 3:21 PM

Catlin, does the cave of shadows exist in real time, or is it an imagining of Plato, or is the cave of shadows a metaphor for something else? As it is, Drac's put Plato's Atlantis, on the venue and it was only heresay, no one actually went there, came back and wrote an detailed account of their stay...I'd have to say, no, and Ulysses travels are a no too...But, you have a wealth of history where you live, so many great things happened there, or pick an event that moved you, or a peroid where you liked the fashions, or a person of note, Mary Queen of Scots comes to mind, what a story there is there ...does any of that help?

Scottish peasants standing in the sea, up to their knees, while the English land owners herd sheep onto the land and burn down their homes. Tragic history it is too. I think I can do something with that, but I'll have to make sure it's nothing like the one chohole did using the same theme. 8) Catlin

Great idea! Go for a dramatic point of view, besides no two artists see things the same way, you go girl!
