lululee ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 7:49 AM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 10:11 AM

Ok, I have a legal copy of Vue that I just purchased. I have a legal copy of Poser5. Just to get the leagalities straight. Here is my sequence: Installed Vue Tried to load a Poser5 file It asked me where Poser was I told it It told me I did not have a legal Poser serial number Uninstalled Vue and reinstalled Vue Posted in the forum and found out I had to have the update to 4.2 Went to e-on found no 4.2 update so I did the 4.12 update Came back to the forum and did what the post told me (still before coffee so I do get some grace here) Found the link Updated to 4.2 Saved a new Poser5 file Tried to open it in Vue Told me it could not open the file at address blah blah What am I doing that is incorrect? Tried to load a Poser

Close Poser before you import into Vue. This might help.

BTW you should have updated to 4.2 BEFORE you ever tried to import a Poser 5 file.

lululee ( ) posted Wed, 10 September 2003 at 8:50 AM

I did not know that 4.2 existed. having just purchased the software I thought it would be complete. I did not realize that it was still beta. I did, however, uninstall Vue, reinstall Vue then do all the updates and then tried to bring in a Poser5 file. I have restarted the computer. Poser is not open. It still tells me it cannot read the Poser files. Any other suggestions?

Here is the procedure I followed that worked with no problems. My box is running WinXP pro. Poser 5 was already on my system. Installed Vue 4.12 from CD. I ran it to make sure it was working. Installed Vue 4.2 patch. Created a Poser scene to import into Vue. Opened Vue and Imported Poser pz3 file. Vue asked me where Poser was located on my hard drive. I used browse to find the Poser.exe file. Vue validated my Poser 5 serial number and them imported the pz3 file. This step took a LONG TIME so be patient. The result is in my gallery.

Have a look in your Vue 4.2 folder if you can see the following files: Poser4.dll Poser5.dll Poser.dll Vue4.rsr As Vue 4.12 could not import Poser 5 files and we had the problem already with another user, I'm wondering if there is maybe something written in the registry or an ini file that shows that there was an error before (when you first tried Poser 5 with 4.12). I really don't know what to tell you, except cleaning the registry + ini and reg files, uninstall Vue and Poser and restart every thing again. Your software is not a beta, Only the update 4.2 is a beta, working already great. If you cannot get it at all, you can go to the support of e-on's site. Guitta

grunthor, that's the right way, but this doesn't work for lululee. That's the problem! lululee, you don't OPEN a pz3 in Vue, you must select IMPORT file. If ever you have done this wrong... Guitta

I have checked and all the correct files are there gebe. I do understand that only the update is beta not the software. I also understand that the .pz3 file is an import not an open. Even though I have reinstalled since I tried to open the original Poser5 file it no longer asks me where my Poser file is. It may still think it is an illegal seerial number because it down't ask me any more to fine Poser. I wonder how I could clean that out of it's mind? The beat goes on. cheerio lululee

Lululee; Is the resource it says it can not open a hair prop, by any chance? I've started having that trouble with the HR2 files since the upgrade, and some prop files as well. Both the Hr2 and Pp2 files have the .obj file integrated into them, instead of in the geometries folder, and I'm wondering if there is something about the way those files are assembled that's blocking the path access to anything but Poser, as they work just fine there. If this is your problem, then I think we've found a pathing or access bug!

Halleluhia, It was a prop. I tried another file that was not a prop and it came in just fine. Thanks so much.

Glad I could help. Now to talk to E-on and see if this is an issue with the plugin, or something in the Poser-specific files.... :

I've had that problem with props too. I'd be interested to hear whether or not it's an issue with the plugin...keep us posted :)

smooh ( ) posted Tue, 16 September 2003 at 6:36 AM

I find that if i parent certain props to my poser figures and then try and then try and import them into Vue strange things happen.. Either the figure wont load.. or parts of the figure wont import at all. wonder whats going on here?

gebe ( ) posted Tue, 16 September 2003 at 6:40 AM

You must have the right bversion of Vue. 4.12 for poser 4 import 4.2 for poser 5 import. Some props from Poser 5 doesn't import into Vue.

akahastur ( ) posted Sun, 23 November 2003 at 1:08 PM

And what is with ProPack and Vue 4.2?

gebe ( ) posted Sun, 23 November 2003 at 1:11 PM

Some props from Poserpro packwill not import into Vue. That's NOT a Vue Problem.
