Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 1:08 pm)
The CEO (or managment guy) that was interviewed here last month said that first they would concentrate on Poser 5 SR4 to fix up all the bugs (hopefully). Then they would move on to Poser 6. It was scheduled to take into account OpenGL, but not too many new features, just upgrading those present in Poser5. But this may just have been a corporate smokescreen to cut the grass under DAZstudio feet. Time will tell...

One thing on the wish list would be for Poser 6 (or Daz Studio Base) to use Endorphin files, which have allegedly made ping-pong-ball or magnet-motion-capture devices obsolete. They said they were going to solicit ideas from teh community on P6. It's not even started yet. Poser Artist (P4 repackaged) has been released. SR4 may or may not be in the process. He said there would be an SR4, not that they'd started on it yet. I do know that all development is taking place in Europe at EGISYS (the parent company). EGISYS is in bankruptcy. How this will affect things is anyone's guess. If by some strange chance they do release P6 before SR4, I can't imagine anyone trusting the company enough to buy it.
Hi, If that was printed, it was a mistake on the part of Computer Arts - Poser (like all software) is always in development whether for a current version or future releases, but- this is very incorrect info. if a Poser 6 is being talked about On the topic of development - Pdxjims, Stewer is correct - not all development is coming from Egisys by any means. Everything you have heard directly from CL -- especially if you look back into the spot light Q & A from Marc Keohane should be the information you rely on. We are working on another service release for 5 first. Kind regards, Katherine

According to the latest edition of Computer Arts magazine anyway. On page 19 under the banner 'Coming Soon' it has the heading September (like this month!) and the announcement 'Poser 6 - It's on the radar...' The rest of the entries are legit - is there something Curious Labs aren't telling us? Still, I won't upgrade from Poser 5 until I KNOW that this version is a bit more reliabel - without having to download megabytes of fixes to make it so!
