I built this tree in Vue with the Dead Tree, Fir Tree, a cone and a terrain. Let me know what you think....it wasn't difficult to build, just a little time consuming. I wanted a character tree that I could put in the foreground to see up close. Well??

Awesome! Now, how did you do it? And can we use the technique to make old growth trees? (You know, giant redwoods, tall pines, etc.) Kate

I was kicking around the idea of writing a tutorial on making one (if I can find the time!). It is really very easy, and I see no idea why you couldn't make giant redwoods or old growth trees doing it. You can basically make it any shape you want and if some of us (hint) could experiment a little with leaves and mapping of the leaves, I guess we could come up with just about anything. You game? I'll send you the scene file so you can see how I did it....that'd be quicker than a tutorial. Let me know if you're interested. Ta ta, Laurie

That's a really very beautiful tree, Laurie. I imagine the time it took you to create it. I have already used this technic in some of my pics and also have indicated it in my tutorial (create a naked tree). If you like, I could put a link to your page and especially to this image in my plant tutorial. :-)Guitta

That's fantastic Guitta! That means that any tutorials are already written :) I don't have the tree up on my site or a link to it or anything tho, but when I do put it up on my site I'll point people back to yours. I guess I should have looked around to see if anyone had done this yet...it was so easy that I should have guessed it, especially you, the flower lady :) Ta ta, Laurie

The one I have in my tutorials is a quick made. Your's is really great, that'q why I would like to link to it. But some Vue users never goes to Renderosity, that's why I dont link for the pics shown here:-(. Maybe you could upload your tree to our group and show it to every one ? http://www.onelist.com/community/vuedesprit Guitta

Daffy34 ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2000 at 7:43 AM

I'll do that Guitta, thanks :) I'll also zip up the scene file and post it in the Vue Free Stuff....that way people can disect (s.p.) it and see how I did it first hand. Ta ta, Laurie
