Hi, I've not created so many finished images in the last months, but I've modelled a whole bunch of things lately. Some models are nearly finished, some are untouched since months. I've renderes all of these in Bryce, so I think this forum is the proper place for them. Ok, let's start the spamming...: First, there's my nearly finished cathedral.

Your modeling is really kickin butt. You have a real knack for it. Just got your chests yesterday and have used 1 of them ready. They are great man. And a big thanks for putting them up for free. You are the man!!!!! -Bruce

Ang25 ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:46 PM

Awesome! My jaw is still on the floor. Thank you for showing them here. I love seeing things like this. :-D

derjimi ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:48 PM

Thank you, Bruce. :) And thank you, Ang25! :) I am happy that you like the Chest Set freebie! Modelling is a key for me - like Bryce - to explore new worlds. In rendering, I like all kind of image types/ scenes. But in modelling I've found that architectual works are the ones I like most. Fortunately I can combine both in Bryce. :) J.

Ang25 ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:03 PM

What modeling app do you use?

mloates ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:04 PM

Wow!!! Your modelling is fantastic! Very creative and very, very well done. What software are you using to do the modelling?

derjimi ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:09 PM

Thank you. :-) For modelling, I use a fairly unknown, but highly effective application - SketchUp. It's kind of a CAD program, but it is so easy to use for me. You can download a fully functional trial version at www.sketchup.com. J.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:46 PM

Exclamation marks all over the place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are fantastic Jimi you are such a talented guy, I just love these models. My modelling skills are very weak but I'm so impressed when I see the work of someone who can model. 8) Great work Catlin

derjimi ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:54 PM

Thanks. When and if the Mansion interior is ever finished it will be released as freebie to you. :-) J.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 6:30 PM

Woohoo!!!!! You are the man Jimi. There is also great news for you students out there, you can get an edu version of Sketchup that only costs 50 which I think is around $70-75. 8) Catlin

derjimi ( ) posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 11:43 AM

Catlin, yes, I used an early version of my church. I also used it in "The warriors prayer" and "Adventurer's End". --- All your kind comments make me really blush. Thank you so much! Jimi

pakled ( ) posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 1:19 PM

quick note- cathedrals are usually in the shape of a cross..no problem for you, of course..long central hall, and two short wings near the front. The overall dimensions were based on what little they knew/used of materials. Just a bit more height, and some flying buttresses, and you're there (unless it's not a Gothic cathedral..either way, all within your talents..;) Only been in a few cathedrals meself, mind ye..;) I'll check out the program..don't know if I could do this in Wings..;)

derjimi ( ) posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 1:50 PM

Hold on, hold on! laughing This really is a fantasy church and has nothing in common with real ones. I mean - look at the windows! You won't find these anywhere in real life. :) I wanted a small church, with fairly low ceiling and windows which play with the light. :-) Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it! J.

brittmccary ( ) posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 5:10 PM

I'm amazed!! I've been playing with Amapi, - and I asure you, modelling doesn't come easy to me. These are great!

pakled ( ) posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 5:12 PM

no problem..;) that's the beauty of modelling, a few tweaks, and voila!, new model..;) Considering all the churches there are, you might find one out there with windows like that..heck, a few domes, and ya gotta mosque..;) Just keep on bringin' out that good stuff..

This is fabulous stuff, Jimi. I'm gobsmacked! Just a small thing, and I appreciate that all this is a WIP, you might wanna put rainpipes/guttering on your mansion......

I find it interesting that Jimi models in grey or that greeny/yellow. I always use the orangy-brown stuff....but then I use bright red and bright green to test for collisions and bad fits........ Catlin, this is a real as I want it to get......
