Attached Link: Hierach

Hello. If I apply a child to a parent object it all works fine. If I move or rotate the parent the child moves too. But, if I move the child the two objects move apart from each other. What else is here to do ? How can I connect the two objects ? How can I affect the pivot points of the objects ?

It sounds like the parent and the child are on the same level of heirarchy. You have placed the child so that it is indented under the parent in HEditor window, right?

yes, its like that parent --child -----child

OK, I just tried a test using two ball props and got the same result as you did. It looks to me that it's the result of using completely seperate objects. Since you're using Max, I'd suggest assembling all the parts in Max then exporting as a .obj file. Import the .obj into Poser then use the HEditor on the groups. I have admit this is something of a gray area to me. I normally build everything in a modeler, export as groups then use a .phi file to create the figure in Poser. I had tried exactly what you're doing with the original version of P4. There where problems so I fell back to more relable methods.

OK, I took three ball props and exported then as a .obj file. When I imported the .obj it came in as a single prop. As another try, I built a quick .phi pointing to the exported .obj then ran that through the HConverter. That worked fine. None of the earlier problems. Unless someone can add some something about the HEditor that I don't know (a VERY real possiblity) I'd suggest putting everything together in Max, exporting the .obj, making a .phi and creating the figure using the HConverter.

heyas; children move independantly of parents, so what you are experiencing is normal. you can lock the child object, which will prevent you from being able to drag it around by itself, away from the parent. (object:lock object). you can't make it so you can move the child and have the parent go with it. (peer to peer parenting, i suppose :) ) for the prop, you can change the pivot point in the info window (dunno the menu command, just hit ctrl-i). check the display origin. this is the 'center' of the prop, you can now grab it and move it, or it has trans dials that magically appear. the object will rotate around this center. if you need to change a body part center, use the joint editor window. select the body part, and choose 'center' in the joint window, and you should be able to see and move the center.
