you mean cutting out part of a picture to re-use only that part in a texture? You could use a 2D app to draw a point to point selection around it and then cut it out or you could draw a mask that makes only the part visible that you want to see. That's what I usually do. Then I save the mask and the image and import them into bryce.

Thanks for the reply.I dont have a good paint app. I was able to get rid of the black background anyway, the main thing was the final colour and texture. The white was showing as I wanted in the materials ed but was quite grey in the render and the colour was very solid like it had been stamped on. Sorry, I dont know how to do screen shots, something else for the to learn how list. Cheers GG.

To make the viking ghost whiter you should increase the ambience. As for the wispy fog-cloud stuff, you might want to try using a large flattened sphere with a fuzzy or volume texture instead of a plane. I think that might look better. Check petersharpe.com for a tut on foggy clouds over water.

I have a 2d picture in black & white that I wish to use in a current project minus the black background and with a white ghostly type finish which I can load into and superimpose on my project. Is there any way this can be done,if so how,are there any tutorials that I can download.
I have had a play around in the materials editor and sort of got what I wanted but could'nt get the colour white enough or the wispy cloud like texture that I would like.
Cheers
GG.
