Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
Oh, I DO frequent other places. I have my PW subscription (but, looks like M3 is a priority there so far) and I frequent RDNA and RMP a lot. My concern was hoping I didn't see a month of the Platinum Club wasted nor was I looking forward to losing my voucher (or using it on something I didn't reall want) this month. But, I guess M3 is the craz and many many vendors are rushing to get sales before the hype goes away. I don't claim to be a marketing genius, BUT, I just wonder if NOW isn't the time to make a non-M3 item...there wouldn't be much competition.
At this rate I doubt I'll re-up for P-club at the end of the year. I've been using it less and less. I will be getting a lifetime to Poserworld tho. They should start putting more things in the P-club that can be used by all characters, Like props. Or more hair that can be sized to fit multiple characters.
Well, a lot of people have noticed that about the M3 male...I guess the same mesh was used. I think M3 looks very young, much younger than M2, rather than feminine, as so many people have lamented. He has more masculine morphs, I think, then the V3 male. But since the base for V3 and M3 was apparently the same, your observation would be an accurate one.
Plenty of new stuff will be coming out over the next two months. At Daz and everywhere else. Expect more at Daz this week. Anytime a new figure comes out it gets lots of new stuff. Look at Koshini. While I don't expect as much for M3 as there was for V3, that's more a reflection that male figures still get the shaft because more people prefer to play with Barbie than Ken. Us Ken people wish it were the other way, but... General information on M3: 1) He was built using the same unibody mest as V3. There's been lots of modification to it from V3. OUt of the box he looks slim and young, but he can be bulked up quite a bit. Not as much as M2, but respectably. There are a few problems with the mesh/cr2. Most noticable is where the collar segments meet the chest, causing a cave-in at the pits when the arms are down. There is also a less noticable problem where the chest meest the abdomen, where there is a slight accordian effect when using the muscle and stocky type morphs and he's bent right or left at the chest. I expect Daz to fix these. 2) He does have the same basic mapping as V3. This is nice because it's a very good mapping, and all teh V3 male textures work on him. Get the UTC with the plugins to convert your old M2 textures to M3. Works like a dream. 3) His face doesn't have as many morphs as V3. No German, Celtic, Slavic etc. morphs. This is disappointing. Another case where the men get the shaft. However, that said, he does have a number of really great face morphs. He looks young, and to some feminine out of the box, but a few dial turns and he ages and butches up nicely. Some people have complained that his head out of the box is too small. Use the scale dial on the head and he looks fine. I think the head is the right size out of the box. His neck is a little long. Again, use the stretch neck dial at a negative value, and it's great. 4) No beard morphs at all. Not many people actually used the beard morphs on M2. I was one who did, but found they had some sharp edges I had to take out in postwork. What I really want is a Millenium Beard for M3. I think there's a good chance for one. 5) Clothing will come for M3. There's already some very nice stuff for him at Daz and Poserworld. He needs more. Don't expect a big third party push until he's been out for a month. I think I saw somewhere that vendors who got an early release for M3 have to wait a month before they can broker their stuff at other places than Daz. Modelers who didn't get a release copy will need that month to learn M3's little idiosecrisies (sp?), and come up with some nice stuff. I've got the Imagination Gown for M3 almost done, but the stupid pits are causing me grief. There has been the usual griping about M3. THis comes with any new figure. He's actually pretty darn good. I'm not throwing out M2 though. They look great in a scene together. Nice variation. As soon as I get my new computer, I'm going to try putting M2, M3, and the V3 male in a complex scene. The overhead of that right now makes my poor machine cry. "More Power, Scottie! I need more POWER!"

Pdx, I notice there are several guys here who, hmmmm, lead an alternate lifestyle (I even met a regular here at Dragon*Con). So, I have a question about M3 from "that" point of view. You see, if I could look like any guy, I'd choose a guy with a build like Keanu Reeves or Brad Pitt. Not Arnold or Sylvester. A lot of women I know don't prefer a lot of bulk. But, I'm hearing a lot of dismay at the lack of bulk (or "apparent" lack of bulk) on M3. Does "bulk" and muscles give a, hmmmmm, sexier look in your opinion? (Plz pardon my brashness).
I'm a woman & I prefer the Brad Pitt body types....The horrors of what these "bulky" men will look like as they age gives me the shivers quite frankly. Very FEW bulky men are able to retain that body structure all thru life. They just look SO un-natural too me...IMHO. As well if they have taken steroids...then all there good for is taking out the trash...if you know what I mean LMAO ;)...all else is rendered useless:)
Well I though you were talking about me but it was a big conference and I am quite sure I wasn't the only one. As for respecting my privacy, thank you, but quit unnecessary. I am a out as all out doors ;) As far as preference issues, one of my back grounds is social work being a student of behavior science I am endlessly fascinated by who we are, and what we do, and to whom ;) tony
Well I figure between V3 male M2 and don, I really don't need another male figure bad enough to plunk down the cash. As far as body types go (from a heterosexual male position) I'd like to be able to make all types. :p I think the people who say M3 looks feminine are a bit offbase. He looks like a slim male. I really get sick of So called idealized body shapes like we see in american comic books.
The Pclub will have Mike products over the next while BUT there is also going to be other things as well .. Anton has been working his butt off to make sure of that .. this week there will be both Mike things and something else (assuming every thing that is ready to be released is released, I know that Ryan is trying to juggle a lot this week and our textures are late getting in so there may be a bit of a delay.)
I'm a woman. I love pretty boys. ;) For example... Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Tom Welling, Keanu Reeves, Will Smith, & yummy Johnny Depp

As I have said in other threads - I wish the merchants would or could somehow make Millenium2 versions of their Millenium3 creations. Make them 2 separate products and increase your revenue chances. They wouldn't even have to be released at the same time as the 3-line items. But both V3 and M3 have some items that would be nice to have for the 2-line folks. Finally someone, Maveris, made a V2 cr2 of the fantasy collar so I was able to buy the V3 collar from DAZ and now am able to use it. Nice! I wish there was either more of that going on or the products had line-2 versions outright. Pretty please, with poseable sugar on top? : )
I'm a woman. I love pretty boys. ;) For example... Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Tom Welling, Keanu Reeves, Will Smith, & yummy Johnny Depp Yeah, Johnny Depp (one of the movie industry's most underrated actors ... he's brilliant). Oh, man ... how could you forget pretty man Pierce Brosnan (aka Remington Steele/James Bond). Now THAT's my kind of eye candy ... LOLOLOLOL. And the reason I like M3.
Oh yeah! I love Pierce! And Aragorn too! (haven't really seen that actor out of that character) ;)

Ooo we forgot Hugh Jackman!! You know, Kate & Leopald? Wolverine? :)

@_@ Oh I'd have to agree about the pretty boys. I think it is my love for Japanese animation that feeds that desire. I'm tired of seeing Vickie and The musclebound Mike, so when I got Vic3 and saw what it was capable of I eneded up pretty much flooding my gallery with my favorite kind of males. Slender and feminie. I see no reason for me to get M3, nor do I even have a reason to get the male morph pack other than for the skin. I just wish there was more clothes that worked for Vic 3 as a male. Macey
Macey ^_^
I'm female also, but prefer older, well toned men vs. pretty boys or muscle bound types. I think bald guys with hairy chests are sexier than those with a head of thick hair :) I also like a rugged or "seasoned" face. Basically, I tend to favor the "average looking" guy, vs. the Hollywood "pop-star" type. But then....I'm from the Midwest....so what do you expect! :)
G Steve... My favourites are Sean Connory, Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard...) Paul Hogan and big sigh Mel Gibson. Oh and Clint Eastwood. None of these are bulky types. But rugged and at least some of them bald.

Well.. I must admit I have a preference to british english. Followed shortly by australian... But that MAY have to do with an english teacher in school who had that absolute conviction that british english was THE way to speak english. We were taught english and not american :o) No offence :o)

MMMMM Sean Connery's voice... Speak to me all night!!! Oh he's wonderful. Patrick Stewart has a great voice too. Of course I adore Jean Luc! ;) Star Trek Next Generation is still my favorite. And Anthony Hopkin's Hannibal is so... delightful. Mel Gibson's an old favorite too. I enjoyed his Lethal Weapons movies. :D Yes, none of my favorites are very bulky guys. Though I admit I like Arnold as the Terminator. :D

I really don't have a preference for a particular accent, but a great voice overcomes all. Orson Welles had a great voice. So does Frank Langella. One of the best voices I ever delighted in was a wrong number to my office that I spent a half hour (under the pretense of trying to direct him to the right department but really an excuse to continue listening to his honeyed SOUTHERN accent and rich tones). Steroid bulk repels. A brain fascinates. Unfortunately my Mike 3 comes with neither a brain, a voice, or boots. There is only hope for the appearance of the boots so far.
Mimic and some sound software could take care of the voice part... ;) AM not drooling! Ok, maybe a little.. :D

I'm a woman and always loved a slim guy - "pretty boy" I guess. Brad Pitt, Mel Gibson (was there EVER anyone prettier, really? sigh). I even like short guys (I'm a short gal), as long as their pretty...LOL ;o). I have an aversion however to unnatural, bulked up, muscley and veiny guys. Don't mind veins in the right places, mind you, but on the pects and shoulders?? Eeeeooooo. I'll take a swimmer or runner or bike rider body over a weight lifter anyday. Laurie
I also liked John Thaw, now deceased, but his Inspector Morse was attractive for reasons that no pretty boy could manage....well, maybe Johnny Depp because I think there is quite a mind working behind his pretty looks. I have to admit that Nathaniel Parker (playing Inspector Lynley) is starting to take my fancy. And every since "La Bamba," I have a certain yearning for Lou Diamond Phillips. And Robin Ellis in "Poldark"...oh, my gosh. Someone with great eyes: Robson Green (English actor). I know I'm telling my age with all this...but I do have nice memories of these fellows. Well, a spinster has to fill up her dreams some way.

... as a person who has not purchased M3 (and currently doesn't plan to), does this mean I shouldn't even bother checking the DAZ site for the next several weeks? Hmmmm...
