Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 20 6:12 am)
Poserworld is the saving grace of Daz's figures and yes, Steve has some clothing there for M3. But, Daz themselves seem to shy away from this sort of content. They have a strong team of modellers now in the platinum club as well as a large group of brokers. I'm sure they could more balance the development of accessories so that their range reflects all tastes. best wishes Jody
I suspect more customers want the fantasy clothing. Judging from the items and images posted here at Rosity, most Poser artists lean toward fantasy. V1 and M1 came with "normal" clothing, so it's not that Daz has anything against it. I think they just realized where the money is, and it's not with business suits and button-downs.
Not everyone post here, and the gallery here is a poor source of what can be done with Poser. If you use this gallery as a refernce ... all you need is a few skippy clothes, some wings, and a few weapons. But you are right they produce what sells. That is why I value Poserworld so much, as Steve produces so many items that Daz would call "Special Interest".
Daz worked on the M3 base, the morphs, and a texture, They relied on their brokers to provide the first set of clothing. While the vendors made the clothing, their modelers were working on the Millenium Cat and other projects. As luck would have it, the vendors did fantasy and sci-fi clothing. That said, the Old West clothing and the Born to be Wild Package are pretty good for everyday clothing with a few texture changes. It'll take a bit, but normal clothing will be coming. Steve at Poserworld as always has taken the lead. PhilC will probably have some pretty soon, since he did a great M2 pack. And Daz will produce version of their stuff, eventually.
The V3 clothes from DAZ have been appearing slowly over the last few months - adding all those morphs really slows things down but, [standard moan] apart from the lack of trousers, jacket and blouse [end standard moan], they have made a fair range of stuff which is, or can be made, suitable for everyday as well as F&SF (oddly, the PC stuff has been more use that way than the Premiere). No doubt they are laready working on M3 items.
there are several of us working on normal clothing and you will be seing it over the next few weeks. this is an issue every time a new figure comes out. but give it time. the thing is that there is a basic fact of life, normal clothing doesnt sell as fast as fantasy stuff. so a lot of modelers concentrate on the fast moving stuff first, then deal with the rest. I am working on a double breasted suit at the moment and will be doing some other everyday wear for m3 very soon.
I'm glad somebody mentioned this because I feel the same way. Nothing against the fine artists that put together the first batch of clothing items, but all appear to be fantasy related. The only thing I found useful was the Born to Be Wild and Cowboy sets since they had half-way normal clothing. Fantasy is fine and I do use some of that occasionally, but a clothing pak like for M1/M2 would have been nice. Not all my characters run around the streets in fantasy garb.

Does fantasy stuff really sell better than good quality "regular" stuff? I've never really done pure fantasy stuff, the closest I've come is a couple costume sets- Catwoman, Playboy bunny, beauty-queen kinda stuff, I wasn't blown away with the sales, I thought "that will be as far as we go in that direction for awhile". Anyway, I know M3 is going to get a tuxedo, as I'm working on one, I don't know if that counts as "normal" or not, would be normal clothing for James Bond, anyway. ;-) I know somebody else is working on a suit for him, too.
Clothing makers - please don't forget morphs - muscular, tone and stocky would be great! Lots of morphs so we can make the clothes fit our morphed characters.

I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
I'd rather have clothes for M3 with lots of morphs. There's lots of clothes available for M1/2 already, but not much for M3. And I love fantasy clothes. :-) I might buy some normal street clothes, but they'd have to be pretty cheap. I'd definitely pay more for fantasy clothes. What can I say, I'm a fantasy and SF fan.
I'd be willing to be the Mike biker outfit (normal clothes) sold better than anything else. YOu have to count the M2 version as many who bought that are waiting for the free upgrade. Love esther

PLEASE also include the Heavy morph in whatever clothes you make. Real world peeps are seldom as skinny as Mike3... Nor are they all muscleman-heros ;o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I'd take your bet, Esther. :-) I liked the biker outfit, but didn't buy it. For M2 or M3. It was one of the most expensive items, and I kind of doubted I'd use it, since I do mostly fantasy and SF art. I did buy the fantasy armor, and will probably buy that archer costume. I'd bet the M3 best seller was the Romeo clothes, just because they were Platinum Club.
I prefer M3 morphs in clothes over M2 versions. Like someone else said, M2 already has a warddrobe. :) I want normal clothes, but I also like sci-fi and fantasy and all sorts of costumes etc. :)

It's not that hard to fit M3 into M2's normal clothes--i.e., the Clothing Pak 1 and Suit Coat Pak, both of which are featured on Mike 3 (just M3, not M3->M2) in my above-linked picture. Even with M2 (or M3->M2), you occasionally get poke-throughs. Slight rescaling, rotating, and/or hiding of certain body parts on the figure and clothes can make them fit quite nicely. The JPs and proportions are close enough that you should be able to get by without a whole new set of M3 "normal clothes"--though they would probably be necessary in animation. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Ok. This is pathetic. There are NO normla clothes for Mike 3. What's going on? I don't want fantasy dresses or archer packs or whatever, I want a normal, decent selection of regular clothing. It's been a week or so since release and Dazhaven't got anything. Am I wrong in assuming there's a problem with this? Currently I haven't used M3 whatsoever beyond tinkering on the initital few days of release, I just can't do anything with him. Unless I want to do lots of images of him getting arrested for indecent exposure :-) Sigh, keep waiting. best wishes Jody
