Hi folks! Sometimes you find cr2 files with the related obj. files under ....libraries / charakter / "artist-name" folder. or worse: ....libraries / charakter / "artist-name" folder / geometries. btw. not very funny! I thought, if you like, you can change the path to a folder within the standard geometries folder....... I used cr2 edit (basic version) and changed the two obj-entries within the file to the new location, (There was no error with typing the path ;O) !!! ) saved to the new folder. loaded the cr2 in poser and there it was on screen ....but 3 to 4 geep-meters higher in space !! Next i just tried "drop figure to floor" and the model stretched ugly to the floor with one part in unchanged position (mid-air) :O( ?????? i have checked for "locked" = no! Thereafter i used the old, original obj. with original path and nothing strange happened. Can you help me to find the error ?

Very weird, unless something else changes in the cr2 in the process... You can edit a cr2 in a text editor, try to open it in WordPad (or something similar) and edit the obj path entries by hand. The easiest way is to do a search for the old path name throughout the document and just edit in the new path. Save the new cr2 with a new name, or work on a copy to be safe. This way you can be absolutely sure that nothing else is changed in the cr2.

If you had already opened the figure when its OBJ was in the character folder, it will have made a RSR which will be no use if you're using Poser 4 (you didn't say which version). Maybe that is the problem? Delete it and see what happens...

Bob, i know the .rsr problem and have it deleted before. And the new path told the cr2 to search for the obj. in a new location under geometries where no rsr was just the new obj. file. It`s Poser4

Hmmm.. Sometimes Poser puts IK on stuff all by itself. Perhaps this is what happened? The original cr2 had IK off and your new one has it on? Try checking for Inverse Kinematics, and set them to off, then see what happens. But it sure sounds strange :o/

Because i would like to reduze the great amount of folders of the "geometries" from for example 50 artists folders in to V1 dress, V1shoes, V1tops etc. and that means a great work with new path renaming. My test with one cloth and cr2edit was not very successful.......All with a textedit ? puuuh! Could Poser set IK for a loaded cloth too ? ( it was a Top )

In the cr2 file, there may be more references to the object file, make sure you also delete the original rsr in the old directory that it was in first. Sharen

I use Cr2Edit all the time to do this, and I've never had your problem. Wish I could think of something that would help!

"Very weird" - Kelderek "it sure sounds strange" - ernyoka1 Has me stumped too. :) Have you tried this technique on other, similar items? And if so, what happened? Also, what was the item in question? If it's a readily available freebie, I'll download it and try the same thing myself. You've piqued my curiosity now. And you wouldn't want to see me when my curiosity is piqued. :D

English Bob i hope you are healthy and still alive ;O))) Here your answer: Its a free top from iso: Vic_camisole.cr2 and he has writen the path for install to: Libraries/charakter/iso_v_cloth (there are obj. and cr2 ) and i wanted to change it to: Runtime/Geometries/iso ....but it does not like that and i have the additional folder under charakter since the install in the same folder i have from him: Vic_camisole, Vic_micro, Yuca_t01_bottom, Yuca_t01_top maybe you own the models too. same problem is with the folder from imram (the stuff was a wonderful idea and well done) but i like to restore some order to the growing amount of folders..... his path is: Libraries/charakter/Imran VickyClothes/Geometries: under the last are all obj.files and under clothes the cr2. I am curious too now what you find out :O))) Many greetings, Webvogel

WinDiff comes with Microsoft Visual Studio, I think; if you aren't a software developer, try WinMerge, an open source tool available from the link. It's very useful for finding out what went wrong when you're editing huge text files. :)

I have the camisole and the microskirt from ISO's summer set - and one of the first things I did was put the OBJ files into the Geometries folder. So it definitely can be done. I changed the CR2 to have these lines: figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:iso:Vic_camisole.obj figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:iso:Vic_micro.obj In the 2 places in each file. That's all I did - along with moving the OBJ to the proper folder, of course, and it's worked ever since. I wonder - is it something to do with the German version of Poser? There have been problems with the representation of the decimal point in the past, which is a known bug. That's all I can think of. If you have a file comparison utility like WinDiff, try comparing the 'before' and 'after' CR2s to check that the figureResFile lines really are the only thing that has changed.

That's weird - my last two replies came out in reverse order. It's a time warp, cap'n - the crystals cannae stand it. :)

Hi EnglishBob, i have used Wordpad and writen the path there and had no problems with the obj. Maybe there is a little bug in the good old Cr2 Editor free-version. Have thanks for your help!! Greetings, webvogel

Hello, I have similar problems. I think I tried most of what was advised here but to no avail. I try to make a cloth made for Michael fit to David but I can do what I want in the conformed status it stays above David and won't come down (or it will be deformed horrible). Is there another way I could try out? Thank you very much! Here a pic of how it looks now:

When you import the obj, where does it place itself, Insom_nia? It must "fit" David in its obj state or you'll never get it to conform properly. Try moving the obj so that it fits the zeroed David perfectly and export the obj again (remember to check the one that keeps the grouping) and make sure the CR2 points to the new obj. Then it should conform.
