Subject: Anyone bought the Woodland Realm Playset ?

Dizzie ( ) posted Fri, 19 September 2003 at 10:19 PM · edited Tue, 30 July 2024 at 1:54 PM

Does anyone know if the Woodland Realm Playsets are compatible with Multiplane Cyclorama or are they their own prop? The product page doesn't say anything about Multiplane Cyclorama.....

Bookmarking for the answer...I noticed the second Playset says a related product is the cyclorama but the cyclorama doesn't seem required. Interesting.

I don't think you need the Cyclorama, those sound like individual props that will use their own texture sets. They're probably less expensive because they aren't as flexible as the Cyclorama (these will always be forest scenes but with different textures, etc). Still look very cool though. :) SnowS

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

Pooooo.... Doesn't Daz know I am dirt poor now??? Stooop releasing all these wonderful things!!! Lhiannan goes off to quietly sob in the corner and contemplate selling blood and perhaps a kidney and lung, and maybe one eye

It is its own separate figure. Does not require Cyclorama to run

It renders beautifully. There's some odd advice in the ReadMe, suggesting that you keep your camera focus below 40mm to avoid a "postage stamp" look. I'm not comfortable with Poser's cameras at values below 40mm, so I tried rendering at 80mm with perfectly fine results, no unnatural flattening that I could detect. Be aware that (apparently due to multiple transparencies) render time with this thing is slooooowww, and use of lighting other than the provided set can cause odd results. It is a mostly static prop. There's a set of transparencies for plants, but they only move as one solid object, you can't move the default plants individually. Just to confirm, you don't need the Cyclorama to use this prop.

As I said before, "I am wondering if the Woodland Realm Playsets are compatible with Multiplane Cyclorama" ...I know it does not "require" Multiplane Cyclorama but can it be used on the Multiplane Cyclorama ......

The beauty of this item is that it is a 360 degree scene, you can rotate it completely around unlike the cyclorama. Your character is immersed in the scene.

Thanks Ron, that answers my question too....:>)

xoconostle ( ) posted Sat, 20 September 2003 at 12:49 PM

Dizzie, the answer to your question is "no." Textures map very differently to the two separate props.

RonGC ( ) posted Sat, 20 September 2003 at 1:11 PM

oops! sorry Dizzie, the realm playset is a 180 degree scene, not 360 as i earlier stated, still it gives you a great character immersion. When i played with it earlier i quickly spun it around the y axis and didn't notice the open side. Looking forward to more scenes for it. one nice thing is that a lot of the objects are 3d and not just 2d planes mapped. In these 2 sets the trees are 3d objects.
