Subject: Need Help .... Figure not loading.....Poser 5 gets lost

raptordude ( ) posted Thu, 18 September 2003 at 10:58 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:47 PM

Im running Poser 5 with sr3.....1gb of ram

When I try to load the figure "Raider" Poser seems to get lost.....the work window shows some of the parts as being loaded but nothing in the view window show up....

I have used the utility by ockham (thank you) on the cr2 file and all the parts can be found with nothing missing.

Soooooo why cant poser find and load it?????

Any help would be a god-sent to me

Thanks in Advance

Correct Reference does not check for missing objs. Are you sure you have the obj that the cr2 refers to? Have a look in the cr2 and see where it wants which obj to be. This "Raider" may be an add on to a character you do not have. And it fits your descrription.

The Raider is a add on for the p4male..... The utility by ockham (new one) checks the cr2 file and list all the locations of all items needed by the figure. If it cant find something then it tells you what items it cant find (great utility) I have also looked at the cr2 file with notepad and and the file paths seem ok. Im as lost as poser is on this one... Thanks for the come back raptordude

I am a problem a little like this, but with mine it's not just one character or prop its a few more of them. I've been trying to fix this but I am soooooo lost! If you find out how to fix this please let me know. --Essie

so if its an addon for the p4 male does that mean the program is looking for it in the new p5 or p4 dir structure? ive nevr used raider so this is just a wild-off-the-top-of-my-head-guess

raptordude ( ) posted Fri, 19 September 2003 at 7:32 PM

It uses the P4 nude male and the ref is correct
figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:P4NudeMan:blNudeMan_Gen.obj
This is the line from the cr2 file
it also uses about 6 other obj files and i have checked the location of all of them and they are right were they should be.
If the utility can find all the parts then poser should be able to find them also........but that's only the way i look at it heheheheh
Im still working on this.....trying ......trying ....trying

your not getting a 'file not found' dialoge box? no prompt to locate any mising files at all? outside of the 'utility' your using... have you done a windows file search instead? if it uses the p4 nude male... and your using p5, are you sure the directory structure is the same so that the 'raiders' add-on looks for the p4nude male using 'p5 directory structure and naming conventions' ?? ((if its different at all, i dont/and never used p4)) just a few details off the top of my head, trying to help... maybe narrow down the problem....

Thanks for the come back Twisted....

This is the line out of the cr2 file for Raider:

figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:P4NudeMan:blNudeMan_Gen.obj

the obj file is located at that path.
I get no "file not found" message at all.

nothing shows up in the working window But under the window on the left side it says that a/some figure is loaded in.
When i try to click on anything (move camera etc) i lose the cursor and poser goes into overload/crash .....the more i try to click on things the worse it gets....ending with ctl-del-end program....
Im just about ready to trash the whole thing.....but it bugs me not knowing the why-for.....

Thanks for the help

if your not being prompted for lost files, then, since poser seems to know where they are, i would turn to the computer itself... what windows are you running? and what service pack? 1bg of ram is great... what kind is it? are you running a p3 or p4 - which processor amd or intel? im getting the impression it may just be a memory or processing issue/bug virus in the 'add-on' ((unless it worked before under the same system conditions))

if your using p5 then the cr2 cant be finding that obj you listed with that directory path UNLESS you placed the blnudeman_gen.obj there yourself. that p4nudeman directory doesnt even exist in p5 hence my question about whether or not youve done a windows file search instead to see if you even have the file... the poser overload/crash is most likely related to a computer/hardware problem... but without specs, thats just a guess...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 2:20 AM

Er... Twisted Symmetry... The p4Nudeman DOES exist in P5... MY path to it is D:ProgrammerCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimeGeometriesP4NudeManblNudeMan_Gen.obj - in other words it is right where the CR2 expects it. So unless you have deleted the P4 content at an earlier state, it is there. Raptordude, I have no idea of why it doesn't show up. If you look in the hierachy window, are the little "eyes" lit up? It MAY be invisible, though I can't think of a reason why. Have a look anyway :o)

oooooook.... this is what the figure should look like..
I have loaded all 5 figures in by hand and conformed them to figure 1....
Sorry no custom fitting or post work...just fast load

I used all of the paths that were set out in the cr2 file.....

Everything works fine....no lag....no overload...no lock ups....

Has to be something in the cr2 file that is sending poser to never never land....hehehehe

This whole thing is no real problem but.......I just would like to know why it won't load from the cr2 file the way it should.

I have even gone back and downloaded the zips again but I get the same problem.

Thanks for all the help
