Subject: DAZ Tailor 1.5 Instructions

Dore ( ) posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 8:19 PM ยท edited Mon, 02 December 2024 at 2:57 PM

For some reason I am having a great deal of trouble understanding the instructions that come with DAZ's The Tailor 1.5 clothing conforming program, both what comes with the software and the part of the DAZ Arcana tutorial that refers to The Tailor. In particular I don't seem to correctly understand how the figure morphs are initially selected, and then how those morphs are chosen for transfer to the garment. Any help, or reference to another tutorial or instructions for this program, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Dore'

Under Help-Contents, see "Tree View of the Objects." First load the figure, then load the clothing item. To Copy a Full Body Morph: 1) Expand (click on plus sign next to) the Figure in the far left window. 2) Expand "Body". 3) Expand "Full Body Morphs". 4) Check the morph you want to copy. 5) Select Create Morphs from the menu bar. 6) Make sure "Morphs Selected Are Like One Body Morph" is checked. 7) Create Morphs in the Dress. To Copy a Partial Body Morph: 1) Expand (click on plus sign next to) the Figure in the far left window. 2) Expand the figure's name. 3) Expand "Groups". 4) Expand the body part containing the morph. 5) Expand "Morph Targets". 6) Check the morph(s) you want to copy. If you right-click on a morph, you will be given the option to select that morph in all other body parts. 7) Select Create Morphs from the menu bar. 8) Selecting "Morphs Selected Are Like One Body Morph" will combine all selected morphs into one full body morph. Not selecting it will copy each partial body morph individually. 9) Create Morphs in the Dress.

Well I got that far. I copied the morphs from the body to the clothes, all of em I think. I tried both partial and full body morphs separately. The clothes now have morph targets, but how do I make it fit the body? Playing around with the morph dials is tricky at best and copying values from body morphs to clothing morphs does not seem to work. Often changing one morph screws up another. I tried copying morph dial values in Tailor but that didn't seem to change the clothing in the Tailor. In short, I get new clothes with more morph targets that still do not fit the body. Playing with the new morph dials is not always successful. Is there some way to make the clothes automatically fit the body?

When I get the figure looking the way I want, I spawn a morph in each body part (except for the fingers) and give them all the same name. I then copy all of the new Partial Body Morphs to the clothing using the "Morphs Selected Are Like One Body Morph" option.
