I play a bit with old stuff and reworked again character I never finished in 1999 made from the P4 female base..

I make new UV's and new shape for the head using Zbrush and here what I got.. Rendered in Poser4.

I will try to finish with the time the whole figure and maybe with DAZ permission I can give you a free update if you like because not all people have the millenium figures and you can find very much free stuff for P4 lady.

I change the geometry a little bit ..without permission I can't share anything :(

render show the low version with one of her face morph and I am in process of creating also high resolution of the model.
The textures are 1500x1500 I put the head maps fragment above to show you.

I hope you like :)

Cath

She's charming. You have an amazing talent.

I'm in awe! What a personality! And that texture is amazing too!

Mec4D ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 11:12 AM

Thanks Dialyn and Spit.. I saw a time ago a japanese version of the old Poser4 figure.. I think the old models are great for the basic of new models.. maybe we can do something with the Poser4 dork? lol hahaha it is not enough of this stuff I think.. I will contact Daz right now and ask them about the permission.. 8)

You would be a miracle worker if you could make the poor old Dork look anywhere near so lifelike. But if anyone can, you can!

Nice texture :) You can use Maz 'Objaction Mover' to share the geometry with public. Without copyright violation! Mazak

thanks TdaC :) dialyn.. he need only new mapping and new head shape and clear the cake. I asked Daz already and show the previews so before I finish anything I will let you know.. this is my relax work and I can take the time to finish this in the best way I can..

I have to agree with others. It is really looking nice!

lululee ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 11:58 AM

She is beautiful. I would love to have her. All those beautiful Sergemark dresses would look wonderful on her. Your work is amazing. Nikita is still one of my favorite ladies.

BonBonish ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 1:32 PM

She is really amazing! I am still using a lot of P4 females and I really appreciate your work!!! Where can I find it when you finish it?

queri ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 1:52 PM

Oh this would be soooo wonderful-- I have so much fun P4 clothing for both male and female, but little incentive to use it. And it would be great for P5 to have something that clunky program could handle for a change. She's cute as a button, Cath. Emily

SWAMP ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 3:38 PM

As always, your work is fabulous. I was wondering one thing...why do you need permission from Daz to work on the P4 male and female? SWAMP

ronstuff ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 4:04 PM

Great work, Cath! I am always glad to see improvements made to the P4 people - they are really great as starting meshes. Not all images need 100,000 poly figures, and I use the P4 people a lot in group scenes and large environments.

Love live Posette! Geez I hate the V's proportions and body shape.

file_77608.jpg

Thanks guys and girls :))) Mazak.. this will not work.. I created new geometry based on the old geometry and the type is not the same.. you can see the wireframe say enough.. this is not a morph .. if I used only morphs I don't have to ask anybody because we can share cr2 files with old Poser figures.. and the UV mapping is changed as you see in the little fragment so this software will not help me.. Maybe I have to write before.. New Poser4 standard Female based on 'unimesh' from Poser4 LOL as Emily said we have many stuff for Poser 4 people and our machines can handle very quick this little model without to lose the quality of your renders...I don't go to give you another Dorks...I take the time I still don't got any reply from above ;).. still waiting Maybe I have to contact CL? I think they have 50% of the copyrights?

That last picture is a photo, right?

Mec4D ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 4:44 PM

:)) I never said that Posette was "old" I made many commercial work using the old models and "make over" them.. they work fast.. you can pose them in a simple way..and was the first figures we play with a long time ago.. this was a great time ..I miss the time very much .....now I have enough skills to make her looking little better so I don't think this will a big deal for DAZ for give me the permission.. and if not then I find a way for update the old one and I have already a nice idea.. :))

Well, it looks unbelievable! As to permission, if she looks that good, I'm wondering if DAZ will give permission...it might cut into sales of higher models they sell.

FishNose ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 5:04 PM

Wow, that looks excellent! Does DAZ have to give permission? Were they involved in creating Posette?? :] Fish

Caly ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 5:14 PM

Yes, Daz created the original Poser figures. Curious Labs does not actually make figures. :)

"Yes, Daz created the original Poser figures. Curious Labs does not actually make figures. :) " On the other hand, once created for CL and turned over to them, wouldn't the mesh THEN belong to CL?

Mec4D ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 5:41 PM

CL and Daz are the owner.. Zygote created the figures for real.. If I do this for CL then CL can share the new files.. but I don't work with them on this new version.. illusions.. You are right.. but here the geometry is changed so you need the whole figure to download and not only the parts.. this is a problem.. without the whole new geometry nothing will works.. let see this as a new version of the old one.. reworked and this is not character only total new figure based on a copyrighted material.. ChuckEvans .. I am afraid you are right.. I wonder only why they just don't reply with no.. I hate to wait CL can give me the permission too because they have the right to do what they wish with Poser4 models too.. don't they created without Daz the new Aliens for Poser5? I saw self free version of poser I believe in a Magazine so what for problem everyone have this.. and I don't go to sell this.. nah maybe new super textures in the future but for now I wish just to finish a nice gift for my 5 years of work with this stuff.... :((

Daz is a spin-off company from Zygote. :) Curious Labs hired some unknown ;) people to make the Poser 5 figures.

Opsss.. I think they did only the Textures and not reworked the P4 figures.. I try to make new shape for P4 male from Poser4.. still in test.. :) Cath P.S Still not reply.. sure they think about.. they gived the permission to rework M2 direct so I hope they don't make any problems with the poser people.

Nance ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 8:32 PM

Mec4D, You could encode it with R.Cook's 'RTEncoder'. It works differently than Mover in that the Key file is not used as the base for a geometry difference file -- just for encryption -- so they can be otherwise unrelated. A handy app that basicly encodes any file, using any other file as the key. This would enable you to encode your file using the original base geometry file as the security key, protecting the original rightsholders, without being concerned about the difference in the new geometry. IIRC, available free at PoserPros.

wyrwulf ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 8:47 PM

Mover should work to encode the OBJ for this.

Nance ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 8:49 PM

I understood that the new geometry, with a new polygon count, would preclude the use of Mover?

wyrwulf ( ) posted Thu, 25 September 2003 at 9:19 PM

Attached Link: http://www.sandylodge.demon.co.uk/html/utilities.html

Mover will work with changed geometry. That's what was used to encode all the versions of Eve, the reworked Posette, and many other goodies. I think that Maz said it would work even if there was only one original polygon in the reworked version. I think RTEncoder might make smaller files, though.

Hmm thanks guys :) that sound now interesting.. please tell me that the new UV's will work too ? becuase the secret here is also in new mapping.. so when the software load a part of the old geometry what happen to the UV's will this works? I will not so sure about.. Maybe this is good idea to try self to see if everything works fine. In mine time I try to make new mapping for the head of our poser4 dork using the new shape :) what you think ? LOL Cath

Hi, your male figure is geourgous too!!!!!!!

BastBlack ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 1:12 AM

Holy Retro-Update, Batman! =o Catharina, I love what you've done with Posette and P4NM! I think fondly of the P4 people. They have tons of content, but their faces are too limited compared to those of Vickie and Mike. I like Posette's smaller dimensions. And sometimes when I get frustrated with Mike's conforming clothes that don't really fit, I wish I could just plop M2's face on P4 Business Man's body and say, "To heck with all these conforming clothes, I got a figure that comes clothed, and poses clothed with no skin poking through!" ;) It is truly amazing what you have been able to do, Catharina. Kudos. I hope you get permission! Good luck! =) bB

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 1:34 AM

Thanks!!! I hope too :) I just play with the P4 male., was nothing special just to test..so I choiced the business man because don't have to do the body right now before I am sure about what I choice to do. Cath

Well possete looks fantastic,I'm very imprest with Dork too. I'm trying to rework Dork too the last days (see the previews in the link) But now I think I'll wait for your version! I think you ve done great job. Can't wait to see the final results!

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 5:01 AM

There are a lot of good textures and clothes for the P4 figures, it would be nice to see them get a new lease of life.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 5:20 AM

Gee... and there was a post just a couple weeks ago about someone asking if she ought to dump all her Posette files. Never get rid of stuff you can't replace, because sure as anything it will become useful again. :) These are looking good. Carolly

Jim Burton ( ) posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 12:36 PM

Objaction Mover doesn't need even one polygon from the original to encode a figure, Lo-res Lori is encoded with different versions of Vicky as a key, she shares no polygons, just sections of Vickies shape, twice removed. I didn't ask anybodie's permission when I did Posette 2003 either, as the existing blanket permission covers things like her, I just used Objaction for redistribution.

I got reply from DAZ and they said the same.. so no way to share the geometry in normal way but I have the permission to play with Buhahahahha make this sense? 8>).. I will try the decoders and see if everything works fine with the new UV's too and if this really works fine I don't see any problems.. one thing what will not works are the old morphs, I need to create new face morphs also . Thanks again! Cath.. P.S Ja Ja Mazak..not yet..

Jim Burton ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 5:27 PM

Ha!- Actually, that is pretty good for the P2 female! What did we think was so good about her... Mec4D- you have basicly two options, do an Objaction .PCF file or set it up a CR2 with morphs that make your figure, assuming the poly count is unchanged. In either case the downloader will need the Posette OBJ file.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 7:17 PM

"What did we think was so good about her..." Hmmm, probably that she wasn't the P1 female, though I don't think I ever saw her. "Polly" does a great zombie impression and with some decent textures and a few clothes that fit better than Vicky's you could take her home to mom - if mom was blind in one eye and nearsighted in the other.

Mec4D ( ) posted Sat, 27 September 2003 at 7:40 PM

Jim, why you are so official to me.. did I hurt you? ;) I know you was working on fine stuff with her and I love what you did.. the morphs will a great option but the secret here are the new UV's.. what you can do with the old mapping? nothing much.. so I can subdivide her or make just new morphs and prepare UV's update with instruction so everyone can update own geometry using UV mapped. I was thinking to make the same UV template maps as V2 or v3 for her.. not bad idea too and good for the new market :)) HA! pitiful P2 Polly pleads is not bad for game characters.. I used this model for many projects too. With Jim's Hollywood hair and clothing she break the hearts by many of Microsoft. :P that was a great time..

Gee, Mec4D, I wasn't trying to be official or anything, I've just gone throuigh the same stuff myself! ;-) There is an option in UV Mapper to save new mapping as some kind of a file that can be applied to other people's mesh (as long as the mesh is identical), but to tell the truth I've never done that, but I gather you know about that?
