Does anyone know if e-on will provide a patch for Vue Pro which will optimise it for the 64bit G5. Adobe have release a patch for Photoshop on the G5 - it'd be interesting to see what kind of perfomance increase it would give. I currently run Vue 4 on a PC, but am thinking of moving to Vue Pro on a G5 - wondering about the benefits (if any). Cheers, Tom

Haven't heard anything about that from e-on. I read in a german Mac newsletter that it looks like that it is already G5 optimized. I am not sure wether i can believe that or not. More a rumour than anything else.

The best information I've seen indicates that for general- purpose number-crunching, the G5 will be able to give an AthlonXP a run for its money. The next OSX iteration also won't really support 64-bit software, as the API's are going to be 32-bit, initially... though the performance difference between 32-bit and 64-bit software on a G5 will be at best minimal, and at worst negative (64-bit will most likely be slightly slower than 32-bit -- assuming both are optimized for the G5). As to whether or not VuePro is G5 optimized, it depends on whether or not E-on got access to a G5 early enough, nothing more.

I just received my copy of Vue Pro and according to the outside of the box it reads under "Increased Productivity" section "Multi-processor support, optimized for G5 and P4 HT." So I would say yes it does support G5's. I'll see if there's anything in the manual that states more.

Great! That sounds promising. It should be very nice indeed on the G5 with loads of RAM, in that case :-)
