Subject: Query About the Contests

kmw ( ) posted Sun, 28 September 2003 at 6:26 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 10:47 PM

What would be a respectable amount of time to wait before deciding a contest is over? I entered several of Render's contests this summer and at least one of them wrapped almost two months ago yet I've heard/seen nothing about the results. [I don't believe I've flat out missed the results tho it's completely possible.] I'd hate to disqualify myself by posting the art elsewhere if the judges're still out there sweating the stats, y'know.

Hi kmw What contest did you enter? I will be very happy to check on this information for you. Also, most [but not all] of the contests are listed in the Contest Forum. You might want to do a search for the name of the contest for any information as to results being announced. ladynimue

Hi to you too. Well, I did find one of the contests but not the other. The missing one was simply called a 'Fantasy' contest and the guidelines were pretty open. It has been been a while so I'm going to assume that contest is closed. Just wish I could make sure... Thanks for the reply. kmw

Hi kmw If you can give me any more information on the Fantasty Contest - it would be helpful - I just looked through the contest archives and couldn't find the one you are looking for. 1. Was it a Renderosity contest? - As was it posted to the Renderosity Contest Site - or was it only posted to the Contest Annoucement Forum, and the actual contest was run off-site from Renderosity. 2. Do you remember the month you entered the contest? 3. Do you have a copy of the image you posted to the contest [or describe the image) ? I might be able to match your image to the contest pages. 4. Do you remember if it was for a specific software program? Poser, Vue, etc. 5. Do you remember any of the prizes or who created the prizes? 6. Do you remember the contest manager? or judges? 7. Do you remember anything more about the theme? If you can give me a few more clues - I will try to help you out :) ladynimue

Hello again, Appreciate your help. Unfortunately I don't pay a lot of attention to these things. I enter the contests more for the challenge than anything and pay almost no attention to things like prizes and judges. Since I always lose that kinda helps soften the blow. Sometimes. I'm pretty sure it was a Render contest since I haven't entered any contests outside of Render all summer. I probably entered in mid-July. And like I said, the theme was, if I'm remembering correctly, simply Fantasy, leaving the imagination pretty wide open. I've attached a copy of the image. If you can find out anything, let me know. And again, thanks. kmw

Whew, sorry for taking so long, but there are a TON of Archive contests - I am glad you posted your contest image, as the contest that you entered did not show the names of the members who entered :) Anyway - here is the contest and your image is Entry number 40 ;] Have a great week ladynimue

Thanks ladynimue, That must have been a lot of work for ya. This was a merchant contest where the merchant runs the contest and provides the prizes.

You can't call it work if you love it... Zen Tambour

Mama mia. I can't thank you enough for all the effort. I know it was quite a task. I hope I get to return the favor someday. Take care.
