hi Just wondering if anyone has imported Daz's Wild & messy hair into Bryce5? I'm having one or 2 minor problems with the transparency maps sections have a white halo around them. I think it maybe because one of the maps is not totaly black and white and has a few greys. any suggestions Dave

Haven't messed with it...no pun intended..but I'd try re-doing copies of the trans maps in all black and white.

I have used it. I didn't have that problem. Although, after the render was done, I post worked the hair too. Maybe try taking the trans pic into Photoshop, etc and use some contrast on it to darken the black area.. Wish I could be more help. I just didn't get that issue. -Bruce

PS.. you are using "Blend Transperency" mode for the material too, correct?

danamo ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 12:33 AM

Yeah, if you don't have blend transparency checked your transmaps probably won't work correctly.

I get this problem too. Also with Noggin's Peacock tail featthers. Can anyone explain just exactly how to correct it? Where is'blend transparency'?

With the object you want to apply transperancy to Selected.. click the "M" button, this takes you to the screen above. These are the settings for Blend trans. Hope this helps... -Bruce

Hi Thanks I'm just trying the blend but gods doesn't it slow down! Ah used the above settings much better. thanks which of the material settings cause the render times to increase the most? Dave

Anytime you have trans, refections and volume materials/settings you will notice an increased render time. Adding more lights to a scene will also increase your render time. But glass and volume mats seem to be the worst render hogs. -B

Cool thing about VOlumes, though, is you can slide the quality down for preview rendering. In Bryce 5 you can do the same for glass, but in Bryce 4 you're kinda screwed...
