When I asked our judges to make their decisions, I asked them to send me their top three choices and list them in order. I did the same thing myself. This is the first time that the overlap in the choices was so exceptionally lean (only two of the nine choices overlapped). The way I judge a contest is as follows. 1.) Select images I think follow the theme. While I only approve images that follow the theme, I do believe some images capture my personal idea of the spirit of the theme better than others. 2.) Select images that excericise the software. This doesn't mean that it has to be "photo realistic" but it does mean that it probably needs to have burned a few CPU cycles. 3.) Plain and simple, the coolness factor. Unfortunately, this is strictly a personality thing. Images 20 and 21 were my other two picks but there were many others that were very close. Just an FYI, I entered several of these contests and never won them and I always wondered why myself. I know how much work can be put into them and I want everybody to know that it's worth it! You learn about your art, you learn about Carrara and hopefully you have some fun. -Kix

Congratulations res1yfb1! On my opinion Carara's contest exist to bring us all for one subject or theme and show the variety of ways we can express our talent using this wonderful software, pushing to the limit the tolls it has. Behind every single entry has a talented artist with a personal idea of the spirit of the theme and that is what make every time we visit the contest room a great full surprise. Ill continue participating on the next contests (If my wife and my two months baby girl let me so) because its always gonna be a challenge for me. Claudio Milczewski
As a first time judge , I found it difficult to pick just 3. I narrowed it down to 8 entries fairly easily, after that it was difficult. I ended up choosing Image #31,#12 and #9 with image #32 being forth. I judged on Theme and image apeal and quality of image. Congratulations Kirk. Regards Mike Moir

Congratulations to res1yfb1 on his winning entry in the contest! In the interests of improving future contest entries and helping us all to advance, would the judges elaborate on their choice? It must have been tough with so many good entries. Once again, congratulations on a winning render. Ed
