I just blinked twice and realized that time is speeding by, and I still need to find my living room (where's a funnel cloud when you really need one?), although the path to the front door is clear (holly is even better than roses for keeping wayfaring knights and solicitors at bay). The Party is next Saturday afternoon, October 11, 1-6 pm or so. Many of you have been here before, but I'll send out address and driving information to anybody who emails me. hauksdottir@earthlink.net It will be good to see folks again. :) Carolly

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 9:47 AM

that's pretty cool :)wish I could be there... alas, work , too far, and no cash :( Not to throw focus from your original post, but perhaps there could be a Poser party in all 50 states...then a BIG POser conference somewhere in the middle once a year...

Bit of trouble with the old trigger finger there? Or is it just a stutter? LOL. mac

Oh, good, I didn't miss it after all. Senile old bat that I am, somehow I had the 13th fixed in my head, but that's a Monday so then I thought "Oh no! She meant SEPTEMBER!" and I was going nuts trying to figure out how to apologise for not being there so you can see why I'm glad I didn't miss it after all. Whew! :) Kate (who really does need to write stuff down more often)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 2:45 PM

:chuckle: Kate, I know what you mean. Time really has wooshed by. If I don't calendar it, it doesn't get done. I was looking at Sam's latest little house with the polished floors and empty rooms, and thinking that virtual people have so much easier time of it. If you want to throw a party, you just make everything invisible! I'm tempted to drape black sheets over things and arrange a few doily cobwebs. ;) However, I harvested some almonds this year before the squirrels got to them... and found a recipe called "finnish almond logs" made of chocolate, butter, and almonds all rolled up together. Experimenting upon people I don't know that well is fiendish, and an act of desperation... but I might just do it anyway. Carolly

Maclean, It isn't that long a walk, but the Atlantic is a bit too cold for comfortable swimming at this time of year. I'll try to get some pics of everyone relaxed around the bbq. I should at least post a front door image here to help people find it! Carolly

Genny, It will be good to finally meet! I'll respond to your email with directions, but if you know where the Bay Bridge crosses the water, I'm about a mile from there, on the Emeryville border. It is pretty centrally located for the Bay Area. Carolly

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 3:06 PM

oooh, experiment, experiment! :)

genny ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 4:04 PM

Carolly, I know the bay bridge Very well.......we cross it every night to get to work. (: I am sure I will be able to find it and I am so looking forward to meeting you to and trying out some of your "finnish almond logs" too! genny

I'll be there in spirit.... Behind one of the black sheets.... Have a nice time. Those finish almond logs sound so tasty. Be still my diabetic heart. Have fun. Q

'I should at least post a front door image here to help people find it' You mean you're not gonna put Gandalf's secret mark on it? Or does that only work with dwarves? mac

Maclean, I know a reasonable amount of elvish, but dwarves kept their language to themselves... remember Gimli's surprise when Galadriel addressed him in his own tongue? I suspect that whatever their word for "thief" was, it was even more secret than the rest of it! Of course, finding the front door may take sharp eyes... it isn't beyond either staircase. ;) Carolly

Well, it turns out I'm going to have to work on the 11th so I won't be able to make it. It's good to get money, but a bummer to have to miss the party. Maybe next year. :) - Dan

Dan and Tracy, Double dratskies!! I'm going to miss you both. Having a job is good, though, even if it does require going in on a Saturday. Next time! Carolly
