I've noticed that when I replied to a comment on my last two pics, my reply was counted as another comment, which it should not have been, should it? Anyone else finding the same thing? Never used to happen, and the note which says 'you may freely reply etc.' is still there, so I'm thinking it's a glitch?

I believe the artist is allowed one comment on her/his own pic, no more. At least, that's the way it was at one time... AgentSmith

Seems to me that there are other web sites that let the artist comment to the commentators and not counted. I suspect the coding would not be that tough to implement. It would be a wonderful thing for the artist to interact with the viewer and not throw off the "most commented" sorting. On the other hand, what harm is there? If an image comes up on the "most commented" list and its the artist interacting with the viewers, I might enjoy reading the dialogue about the image. I don't think the comments effect the hot 20 at all. Maybe it would be good to notice the images where there is interaction and discussion about them. Darkginger, maybe its a good thing your two comments were counted. It shows you're interactive with others about your work.

AgentSmith - I just had occasion to comment to a couple of people in my latest post, and they both stuck. I'm pretty sure you're only allowed one comment in anyone else's post, but as many as you like in your own. I seem to remember posting twice in another artist's thread, and the second post deleted the first. ...and I agree. I don't think my posts in my own thread shouldn't count towards "comments"

No there is something wrong with the coding becuase your own comments never used to be included in the count. Probably some glitch that was result of the fixing of a different problem :)

You are allowed as many comments under the gallery pic as you wish on your own picture, one on anyone elses, but yeah, as Richabri said, your own comments don't count toward the comment total if it's your pic, at least it's been that way since I've been here. I think this started during their testing of the database comment/view count statistics move.

I just felt as though I was somehow cheating when my comments got counted - and I haven't dared to reply more than once to comments for that reason!

A little note to the programmers and this problem has been fixed. :~) As ShadowWind says you should be able to comment as often as you like with out comments counting towards the total. Somehow that got messed up in the coding when something else was being changed. Things should now be back to normal.

No It is still not fixed, ;) I just uploaded a pic today and it counted my comment.

Hmmm....?! scratches head Ok! Sent another note to the programmers.... :~) It was supposed to have been fixed.

As an addendum to this, I just posted a comment in one of my image posts, then corrected it, and deleted the original, and it "credited" two posts. Ooooooops guys. ~lol~
