Subject: Ultra Salon 2 Elven Court hair by Mendhi and Poser 5 - Help!

I'm trying to render Elven Court hair in Poser 5, and not having any luck. I read on his site that it is not compatible with the Firefly renderer, so I tried the Poser 4 render option. This is grey and washed out, with no depth. I've tried using P4 lights, and going real bright, but no luck. Can anybody post the suggested steps to get the hair to render right? I was having the same issue with Sharkey's wings a while back and someone knew just what to do to fix them. Hoping, hoping! Thanks, Kfox

For a proper telling of how this needs to be done, I suggest going to the PoserPros site (that Mendhi runs) and asking her directly.

Hi - and thanks. I already posted there, too. :-) I did get my picture done anyway. I took the washed out P4 render into Photoshop and tweeked the levels and knobs a bit. A surprising difference, and the hair looks great! Kfox

When you selected the P4 render option in Poser 5, did you check the "ignore shader trees" box? It needs to be checked every time you start Poser is you want to get close to P4 PP renderer.

I just tried the same hair. It does the same thing as some of Koz's hair. If you add another plug from your color texture to the displacement at a value of 0.000100, this should fix it. If you want the tutorial it is at Digital Babes. Look to your right at Web Ring Top 15. It's in his D/L section.

HI Folks, thanks for helping out with suggestions on how to get the hair to work in Poser 5. It does indeed have alot of the same problems as Koz's hair, as well as alot of the hair at Daz that has a similar construction method. It was developed prior to Poser 5, so it not really compatible, though I am told there are some work arounds that make it more compatible. It is why my page for it notes it is not designed to be compatible with Poser 5. I do not understand Poser 5's shader nodes well enough to be much help here either I am afraid, other than to know it does not work right there :(
