I finanely made it! Since i got Bryce I was wondering if it was possible to make some good looking crop circles.. One terrain map made in photoshop, a terrain , a texture and that's it! I hope this will give you some scene idea . I'm thinking of making a scene with it... Cheers! Comments and critics are welcome!

Now all you need is Mel Gibson going nuts in the middle. Well done!

That looks fabulous...really cool. Sharen

Andini ( ) posted Mon, 13 October 2003 at 8:27 AM

Wow! That' incredible...thanks pidjy! Could you go over the details of the terrain map, though? I assume it was done in photoshop and the surrounding is just an application of the "Noise" filter. How did you make the nice pattern WITHIN the cricles? It's very detailed and I'd love to know your secret {8^) .

Ornlu ( ) posted Mon, 13 October 2003 at 9:15 AM

Yes I am also curious about this as Andini is, it is surely an awesome effect. I would much like to see how it was accomplished. Great Job!

I simply made a round selection and add a radial blur (spin) to the noise pattern. Then just copy and past the selection, resize it, dupplicate it as many time as you want.

Really nice stuff. The College that the movie "Signs" was was filmed at is just few miles from my house and my wife is a student there. It made that movie EXTRA creepy for us. Mmmm. Might just have to take a trip out there with the DSR707 one of these days for some texture/reference collection..... :) Have fun.

If you're in the Philadelphia, PA reagion, this might be fun to check out: http://www.devalcol.edu/halloween/pricing.htm I'll try to get there with my kids this weekend and post any usefull pictures if there's any interest. Have fun.

I love Shymalan's movies. Liked "Sixth Sense" a lot, really loved "Unbreakable". I was really enjoying "Signs", too, but I thought the ending was illogical (I won't get specific because someone may want to see it who hasn't seen it yet). But the same suspenseful direction...stylistically the man is a genius.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Yes Nick I' would love to see some pictures of that place.. so far from where I am.... I do agree T-John the end of the movie is illogical.. If the aliens have the technology to come here.. they would be abble to know that water is a poison for them... but I like Shymalan's movies, this man is very sensitive and I do like the way he put in image those stranges phenomenas. Well if I was a movie director.. I will go his way I think.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 13 October 2003 at 3:32 PM

PadawanNick, if you take any pics that would be good for textures, I'd love to see them/have them. 8)

danamo ( ) posted Mon, 13 October 2003 at 8:27 PM

Excellent job pidjy! I am very interested in crop circles and have made previous attempts to model them, but my efforts never came close to your ingenious method and results!

pidjy ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 4:51 AM

yes Danamo i know you are interested in the UFOs, I am too, I had the chance to see some really strange things, and I met Mr T. Good and some air force pilots at Paris Air show in june. Mr T. Good has written many books about the UFOs and he was there to collect some pilots "testimonys" about some close encounter of the first kind. Some pilots had even some originals pictures of ufos they took. We have been speaking for hours, and I will allways remember things that were said there. BTW : I work for some aeronotics magazines (illustrations) that's why I was at Paris Air show this summer.

Dear pidjy, there is no shame in how you express yourself in English, a language that is not your "mother-tongue". I wish I could express myself in French, or any other "Foreign" language as well as you do in English. Besides we all speak "Bryce", and you are a true poet there. And yes, I also have seen strange things in the sky on several occasions, enough to convince me that we are not alone.:-)
