Well, it's been a while. A long while. For those of you who missed the WIP and previews at 3DArena the following is what's been keeping me quiet. It seems that what little was left of my mind fried one night and the dying embers of intelligence made the decision to learn to model clothing. If I ever figure out which of the surviving neurons it was I'm going to string them up over a slow fire and have me some dark side fun... Anyway. The following items will be appearing at some point in the not too distant future a bit closer to Christmas as there's a few little bits to finalise - kind of like a lunatic Christmas gift. So, keep your eyes open if you're interested. Models are Mike 2, Stephanie, Poser Horse (with Sharkey's warhose morph and the Pre-teen Daz girl. Just to let those who care know that I've not dropped completely off the radar.

There's more in the pipeline so keep your eyes peeled. I'll either stagger the release of it all around the Christmas period or release the whole lot in one lunatic spree for the happy holiday. Haven't quite made my mind up on that one. :)

Good to hear from you again Q great stuff and what is needed more stuff for Steff

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

Thanks KayJay, I confess I'm kind of hoping people will like the things. You know, make me feel better about the hair loss, nerve damage, sleepless nights. smirk

Netherworks ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 9:40 AM

Those look great, Q :) I knew you could do it.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 9:41 AM

Thank you Stallion and I agree with you, there's a huge amount of stuff available for Vickie, so I decided to be a tad different and use Stephanie, who seems to have somewhat less. Hopefully I can rectify that lack along with some complimentary outfits for Mike

Blazerwiccan ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 9:42 AM

Wow everything looks amazeing!!!! Ohhh wow.. ok trying to stop my heart from jumping into my throat. :)

ROTFL @ Nether. No, you knew I'd beat myself senseless against a wall until something clicked. That'd be more accurate. :)

The most recent incarnation of your CG Alcove and 3D Arena have both disappeared off my browser - so I WAS wondering where you'd got you, yeah. Good to see you're not dead yet. :D

Redfern ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 10:30 AM

So, did you attain any success with James "Tobor" Murphy's B9 "Lost in Space" robot, converting it from a static prop to a posing figure, or at least a posing prop?

Sincerely,

Bill

artistheat ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 10:46 AM

Excellent work....Where is your new site?,I went to the old one and there's nothing there....http://digitalfyre.com/Questor/index.html

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 10:47 AM

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm afraid that this particular Sanity Clause won't be able to fill all your stockings... international flight fares being what they are. However, all these and future items will be available for you to drag down into your goodies bags and play with. One way or another I'll make certain of that. EB: hiya, my main site disappeared when Crisodian moved house, unfortunately she moved into the "Money Pit" minus Tom Hanks and has been pretty much off radar since. I'm working on getting a new site with domain set up but the UK being what it is, finding a decent price for the bandwidth is the tough part. AprilYSH: LOL. No, not much difference, just a new way to beat up on myself. :) Jade: No time to scoot around with the missus, My bike is still off-road and she's mostly tearing around with the Queen of Darkness, no way will you catch me on the same stretch of road with that psychotic wench (QOD that is) :) Redfern: Short answer. No. Not to my satisfaction anyway. Tobor's model is excellent but it's not particularly Poser friendly - especially not in the arms. However, don't give up hope. I have a plan - and a new one in progress.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 10:54 AM

Sorry about that Artistheat, that site is in off-line hell at the moment due to circumstances beyond my control, or the control of the server owner. I'll have a new one up in the next couple of months and I'll let everyone know where.

shogakusha ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 11:09 AM

QUESTOR!!!! Good to see you back! I had wondered like others when I saw your site go down. Your work is crisp as always, and has a Questor style all its own. Clothing huh? Let me guess, you got your hands on Rhino? Best of luck!

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 11:19 AM

Hiya Sho. :) LOL. I've had Rhino for quite a while, all the guns and other models I had were made in that, what I finally did get though (other than a severe headache and mostly frustrated) was a desire to make clothes I wanted rather than praying someone else would. Funny how a need can push a person in a particular direction isn't it? Still desperately need several clues for what I want to do but it's a start. :)

Harrison2 ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 11:38 AM

Wonderful to hear from you Questor!! Your modeling is superb as it always is!! I always knew that beneath all that blunderbus you were really a Santa Clause;)) hehe Cheers Q, Harrison

I feel sorry for the girl in the first pic. She has to carry everything. Boy that guy must be real lazy. :) Nice work!

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 12:13 PM

LOL. Yep. He's going to send her back for the mace, lance, luggage and other horse later. :) Hey, equal opportunities and all that, can't be having guys playing pack horse all the time, have to share the burden you know. grin

compiler ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 12:13 PM

Very great work ! I like the horse tack (barding ?) a hell of a lot ! It looks just perfect ! Do we have to promise to be nice until Christmas to have all these ?

Skygirl ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 12:15 PM

OMG Q !!! This looking too cool...esp the horse stuff!!! Sky.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 12:30 PM

No compiler, you have to promise Santa Claus to be nice until Christmas, I'm Sanity Clause, you don't have to promise me anything except that whatever you take you'll actually use. :) Thanks Skygirl. I wasn't originally going to go near the horse but when I went looking for a fantasy tack set there seemed to be a huge choice of one and that appears to be only for the charger. I'm currently hunting down examples of other tack and saddles to make a few more.

Considering that I have five things in my Steph clothing folder .. I'm looking forward to the new clothing with great glee.

FlyByNight ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 12:55 PM

Wow, these look fabulous! So glad to see things for Stephanie, I've been using her more and more lately and like her a lot. And you get a HUGE [[[hug]]] for the Poser horse stuff. YAY! Been going crazy looking for tack and only found one in freestuff, which works well, but was looking for something with more items to it. Can't wait for Christmas! Thanks so much, Questor.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 1:00 PM

Heh, that's two less than I have Lyrra. Although she can wear Vickie's clothing it just seems, I dunno. wrong? grin Kind of like borrowing an older relative's clothing to go out. :) Then again, with a slightly different body shape Vickie's clothes don't fit overly well. Never mind, I decided to adopt the underdog, so keep an eye on my nick, you'll be seeing more for her.

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 1:57 PM

It looks super Questor. I always liked Steph, but like you pointed out, there's nothing much out there for her.

maclean ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 2:44 PM

Hi petey-san, Great to see you back again. And cool-looking stuff too. 'hair loss, nerve damage, sleepless nights' Yeah, tell me about it. Except my hair grows. It's down to my ass now. Things must be bad. LOL. mac

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 3:25 PM

I only had 5 clothing items for Steph, as well, but found the basic 60's style Donna dress by EnglishBob over at big-i last night. (Whooo-eee! I'm up to 6!) It looks very flexible, but is still a short dress. Getting a long dress or two allows much more variety. Might I suggest a couple of clothing items which none of the figures have... which might help get Stephanie used more? (and thus keep the circle rolling) I don't think that any model has palazzo pants which can be heavy fabric for working in the garden or sheer chiffon for standing on the yacht at Capri or textured silk for the opera house or just a nice soft cotton for relaxing in an easy chair. The caftan that PhilC is curently offering seems to have opened some cries for clothing which is comfortable. I've worn them while hiking in Yosemite and walking in Downtown SF's theatre district and it all depends upon the fabric. Since Stephanie looks a bit more outdoorsy (like she could cut her own wood, which is why I dropped her into an image I was testing... and why I just realized she has no clothes), why not give her a safari-type outfit? Make it general enough to be suited for a dinosaur dig, fishing trip, exploring old temples, or sitting around a high-country camp-fire making biscuits in the neat cookware we just got? A camp shirt has button-flapped pockets on both sides and a bit more ease across the back (a pleat between the shoulder blades). Jodphurs would be great, but even loose trousers tucked into boots would work nicely. There are pith helmets, but perhaps something with a wide brim to top things off? With the right clothes, she could fend off head-hunting cannibals or the warlord's bandits. And clothing like this is multi-purpose enough to be used in a lot of different pictures. My own taste is high fantasy, but those coronation robes can only be used one. A good pair of pants and nice blouse see lots of use! ;) Carolly

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 14 October 2003 at 4:59 PM

Maclean: Down to your... Good lord man, you aren't doing enough Poser work, get that app open, lost some of that hair, people will start thinking you're a yeti what with being up a mountain and everything. ;) I see your changing room finally made it into the Daz store, going to have to pick that up soon so I can send you abusive emails about it. :) Seriously though, great looking model. Carolly: Thanks for the ideas, they're a tad above my current skill level with clothing but I will make a note of them. Hopefully I'll be able to find a way around a couple of the problems I'm having and start making stuff like that. Heh, I have a thousand and one items that I "want" to make, the trick is in being able to. :)

EnglishBob ( ) posted Wed, 15 October 2003 at 3:17 AM

Anybody in this thread who wants an inside track to Stephanie clothes should do what I did and get the Quicksuit from PoserStyle (regretting it yet, Thip? :D Many thanks.) I didn't bother with Vicki 2, went straight from 1 to 3, and I find that Stephanie is becoming more and more useful in filling that "2" shaped hole. :)

Lemurtek ( ) posted Fri, 17 October 2003 at 11:27 PM

Damn, really great stuff, no surprise there! This almost makes up for quibes! :) Regards- Lemurtek

Questor ( ) posted Sat, 18 October 2003 at 6:37 AM

What is it with ebots around here? I'm getting ones from 10 days ago but not current? Has someone screwed up the software again? EB. I did purchase Vic2 and I still don't regret it, that's a great model and very versatile, but... Stephanie offers a different body shape and morph ability so for me it was another "must have" model. Only annoying thing is that there are so few skin textures for her and she does tend to look rather odd with a hairy chest and unshaven while wearing Mike's textures. Although for some images that does have uses. :) I am rather surprised that nobody bothered with the model, Vickie this, vickie that, vickie everything. Rather sad really. It almost shows a pathological attachment to a single model form. It's rather like Dacort's excellent Natalia and Natrixa models, almost completely brushed under the carpet in the path of the almighty Vickie. Such a shame. I guess we'll see whether the new Steph from Daz will suffer the same fate. Lemurtek: Thanks, generous as always. :) Sorry about infecting you with Qibes, but it is one of the purposes of my existence to make eyes bleed and peoples' minds scream. It's a compensation for no longer being able to make ears bleed. :)

Questor, Well at least with the new Steph plugin for the Universal Texture converter you can convert V1/2 and 3 textures to Steph ... which is nice. I do like her legs better than V's

Questor ( ) posted Sat, 18 October 2003 at 3:19 PM

Thank you Lyrra, I didn't know there was a Steph plugin for the UTC, that's great news. happy dance And yeah, I agree, her legs are better than Vickie's. :)
