Subject: Texture brush

I have a texture I created in PS. I want to make a brush that uses that texture as I paint. How do I create such a brush? Any tutorials? Thanks.

What type of texture is it? Is it something that may work better as a pattern?

Basically the creation of a brush is pretty straight forward (in ver7...) you simple make your texture and select the portion you wish to use as a brush, and then go to Edit --> Define Brush. Give your brush a name it will show up in the brush palette.

there are a few other things regarding libraries but we can talk about that later...

Thanks...Actually you're right, I want to use this texture as a fill; say I make a selection on my document and want to fill it with my texture. That way it's more uniform and can mask areas of it later if I wan to. How do I create such a fill or pattern? Thanks

Almost the same way but choose "Define Pattern" instead of "Define Brush". Then when you select the fill tool (paint bucket) select the "pattern" option instead of "foreground colour". With "pattern" selected you'll find your new pattern in the palette.

That really gives me the effect I want...Is there a way to make the pattern seemless? I do get a tiling effect when filling a large area. Thanks again.

it takes a little experimentation but you can...

it all depends on the edges and whether you can blend them and still keep it believable.

use the "offset" filter (FILTER --> OTHER --> OFFSET) and blend your edges and see.
