So I've finally started to play around with Poser 5 and the material room. And I've put together a pack of toon shaders that I think look pretty ok. I hope you'll like them too. They're in free stuff soon and NOW at my Homepage :o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

They would have been up sooner but my stupid cable modem had a hissy fit. Actually, I think your site broke my modem. It stopped working as soon as I went to download the pack to test it, so it's all your fault I had no Internet access for over an hour. Expect a lawsuit for all the pain and suffering caused by no Internet access. ;-}~

Is there any way to apply materials to all parts of an object at one time? For example it would be a lot easier with the toon shaders (which are very good!) if you could apply them to all parts of a figure. I suppose someone might write a python script to do this...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 2:52 PM

In theory there is this Apply to all, but when I try it with the toon shaders it doesn't work properly. Yes a python script could possibly do it. Ockham... HELP!

Haven't tried these shaders yet, but whenever copying/pasting or applying to all, one has to click on all desired nodes to highlight all of them in order for the commands to work. If the node headers aren't highlighted, "apply to all" won't work. Just one other comment: I saw people saying in the other threads that the lines generated by cartoon-with-line or toon shader are inadequate in various ways. I agree, but not as a complaint. I think the original idea behind Poser was that one would have to do the inking job in post-render, just like any cartoon artist is accustomed to do it. In other words, the inking is critical to the effect of the work, so one shouldn't expect any software to do adequate inking at the click of a mouse ;-)

question about shaders,,, where do you add them in order to be able to use them in the p5 material room??? I'm confused

Connatic ( ) posted Sun, 19 October 2003 at 8:27 PM

Install the shaders into the Materials Library. It is very similar to pose files. Open Material room and pick the part you wish to apply the shader to, and click the shader file, much like applying a pose or MAT pose.

If anyone can write a universal material applier then ockham can.
