Subject: To the artists that ordered the DVD

Spike ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 3:03 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 2:00 PM

Can you please provide feedback on it? This will help us decide if the next DVD will happen. 1. Do you feel this is something that the members will enjoy? 2. Was there anything on it that you did not like? 3. Would you change the format, and if so, what would you change? As this DVD was for the tradeshow, it had a lot of Renderosity promoation on it, the next one should be more about the artists. Please let us know so we can make the next one even better. Thanks Spike

Got it in the mail today. I've already watched it twice. I LOVE IT!! Amazing! Yes, I think the members would be interested in another one. (I know I would). Wouldn't change a thing. I like everything about it, the music and getting to see all the amazing art. There is a lot of incredible talent on the DVD, and while I was familiar with a lot of the artists, there are quite a few whose galleries I intend to check out. I really liked that it spanned everything from 2D, fractals, modeling, and the different softwares. Thanks for all your hard work, I know that must have been hard trying to decide which pieces to put on the DVD. Excellent!! Arleen

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 06 October 2003 at 7:05 PM

I just got my copy of the DVD and it is AWESOME! I really like the way its laid out and the music is great too. Like ringbearer said there was quite a few artists on the DVD that I'll have to check out their galleries. I like the way the credits were done too, not just a list of names scrolling up the screen :) It still amazes me that some of my work made it onto the DVD with all those great artists...

borsy ( ) posted Tue, 07 October 2003 at 1:05 AM

I've watched the DVD a few times since receiving it and think it's just a fantastic work of art!!! A pleasure to view!! I don't see any changes I would make in the format as it is excellent the way you have presented it.The way it was done gave me a whole new way to view art. The great music and the changing of the images goes together beautifully and is presented in a very creative & entertaining way. The way the artists credits section is done is perfect as to see the art with the name. I will be checking alot of galleries of artists I wasn't aware of after viewing the this feature. I think this would be a huge succes if it was offered to everyone. Doing one every year is a great idea. You did an awesome job on this Spike!!!! Thanks again for all the work you've put into this project and making it possible for us to purchase it. Thanks for allowing some of my work to be included. Rick

The quality of the images the disc presentation and the music make it a pure visual and aural feast.I'm very honoured that my humble wee fractals stand beside such images of high caliber. So without further ado huge big thanks and a virtual beer to Spike, artist's and all who where involved in the disc's birth :) And like others I also have a huge list of artist galleries to check out over the next few days, hmm hope me modems up to the job :). #1 YES #2 No #3 No

Got mine today! Thought I would sit down real quick and watch just a few minutes of it and then get back to doing things. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I was immediately hooked and watched the whole thing, AND the artists credits. Excellent work Spike, very well done! Yes, I believe this could be a very hot item. No, there wasn't anything I didn't like. The format works for me :) Again, great job, and it was great having such a wonderful slideshow of all that great stuff!

Spike- Very nice job overall. As to question 1, yes. As to question 2, the music was not always to my style or preferences but was well done. Nice job. Regarding question 3, as you noted, I would on a more artist oriented cut back on the renderosity promo stuff. I would also like to cut back the pace a little so we get to oogle the delicious eye candy presented like a more leasurely feast. This went by at time a bit too teaserish. As a renderosity promo work this succedes with a very crisp clean feel! Well done! - and I do look forward to your future efforts, they should be well worth it! Richard

Thanks! Yes, this is great feedback. I agree 100%. The next one will be a slower tempo and far less Renderosity promo stuff. Getting feedback is a very cool tool that I can use on the next one to make it better. Thanks!

My word there's some amazing artists on this DVD! Definitely some (alot) galleries I'll be checking out. Spike this was great, it surely must have been a hit at Siggraph! 1. Definitely 2. Some of the music wasn't to my taste, but alot of it was, so no complaints. 3. As mentioned, a slower tempo would be good. I found myself stopping the DVD to check out some of the pieces. For what it was originally intended though, it was perfect. Thank you again Spike, I'm so honored to have been included.

The DVD arrived in germany... and it's AWESOME! Excellent choice of images and composition, the music fits also very well. I love how the images interact with the music. This looks like a HELL of work was involved, and it's a masterpiece! You can be proud of it, and I'm proud to be part of it. Greets, Jimi

raven ( ) posted Mon, 20 October 2003 at 7:26 PM

I thought it was very good, I enjoyed spotting my stuff amongst the other great pieces on there. I wasn't a big fan of the music sometimes, but my daughter liked it. #1 Yes. #2 Occasionally the music. #3 The format was fine :) Just one thing, is it region free or region 1? I ask as it plays fine on my multi-region dvd player, but I don't want to risk a region change on my computer's dvd-rom (I am region 2).

Spike ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 6:15 PM

I did not set any region code, so it should be region free..
