Subject: Michael 3 clothes?

gordons ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 10:19 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 2:51 AM

Are there any good clothing add-ons available for M3? I looked in the Daz store and they don't have any normal stuff like t-shirts, pants, shoes etc for M3. I don't want to use the M3 to M2 version because then I'd be missing out on all of M3's body morph improvements. Thanks.

Carcinogen ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 10:40 AM

PoserWorld has many "normal" clothes for Mike3 already. It's well worth the subscription price. Tim

pdxjims ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 10:59 AM

Poserworld is definitly the place to go for any everyday cloths for just about all the popular figures. Steve always seems to get his stuff done before everyone else. Right now he's got combat suit, catsuit, low rise pants (with underwear showing at the top), boxer shorts and briefs, Model Mike (pants with shoes, log sleeve v-neck sweater), tank top, baggy shorts, pants, combat boots, and a long sleeve t-shirt. I also know he's got more in the works. $50 for an annual subscription and you get a free cd full of content. Not to mention all the other stuff like scenes, hair, props, clothing for everyone from V3/M3 to Koshini to the P4 figures to M2/V2 to the Millenium Kids. Nothing for the Daz skeliton yet, but if someone asks for it, I bet he makes it. The M3 available stuff alone is worth over 3 times the yearly subscription. Steve, old buddy, if you read this, is it time for me to renew?

Sorry about the typos. New keyboard.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 11:01 AM

Be aware though that the clothes from PoserWorld (usually)doesn't contain morphs. But if you have The Tailor it would be easy to put them in. And there is LOTS of great clothes there.

Funny you should ask, this is what's on my screen now. The set will include the morphs. It will be initially issued as Almost Freestuff. Now would be a good time to let me know what you want in it :)

gordons ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 1:01 PM

PhilC, that looks almost like the fabled 'loose-fitting t-shirt' I have been looking for for so long. Whatever you can do to keep it from sticking to Mike like a wet t-shirt is fine by me, plus conforming to a more human-shaped figure. Looks great!

PhilC ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 1:18 PM

Yep I'll keep you posted. When I've got a few more items done I'll start a new thread in the Product Showcase Forum. Its one thing to answer a question here, but I'd rather not pursue it further in the General Forum.

pdxjims ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 1:19 PM

Phil's finally doing M3 stuff! And it's almost free! I've been hoping you'd do some stuff for M3. Of course, I wanted it to be along the same lines as the fetish stuff you've done for V3, but I'll take anything I can get. How soon?

Niles ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 1:23 PM

Stocky and Heavy sounds good to me, also.

gordons ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 1:31 PM

I just checked out Poserworld and it is stuffed with content; I think I will sign up and give it a try. I did notice that most of the Michael clothes had that painted-on look where the shirts conform to his ridiculously rounded shoulders - it looks like he's got grapefruits stuffed under his shirt. I have never seen anyone with shoulders that look like that, not even bodybuilders. Does the Tailor help conform clothes to M3's body morphs?

ronstuff ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 3:24 PM

Hey Phil! WOW - save one of those outfits for ME! looks great... can't wait... yaay!

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 3:30 PM

Phil! How about a loose jacket, or a blazer - or perhaps a short denim jacket? Running shoes.... Also shorts/bathing trunks :] Fish

gordons ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 4:44 PM

For that t-shirt, could you add an 'untucked' morph? Speaking for myself, I rarely wear t-shirts tucked in.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 4:59 PM

A loose tshirt would be perfect for those casual days, and jeans that don't cut of the circulation around the ankles would be good too. I think the DAZ tshirt and jeans just look like a painted on layer rather than real clothes. Catlin

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 5:04 PM

Phil, I was hoping you'd do some "normal" M3 clothes, as you did for M2. This is great news, and your work in progress looks juuuust right. Please add my voice to those that request the stocky and heavy morphs. You know what I think would be really cool? A basic "dress shirt" sort of like the DAZ one for M2, but with which you could button any of the buttons as you see fit. There's no shirt for any of the Michaels that allow one to button only the top button and leave the rest unbuttoned. That might sound ridiculous to some, but there are millions of men here in California and in the Southwest who casually wear their shirts like that. Whatever you come up with, I'm looking forward to it!

isn't this what you are looking for? The package includes seven (7) items, they are one turtleneck sweater, one pair of pants, belt, tank top, uzilite's underwear and a pair of ankle boots.

Xena ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 9:51 PM

Different package to mine Sandoppe :) Catlin, yes. Not sure when but soon I would think.

sandoppe ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2003 at 10:55 PM

Yes, I know Xena :) I'm looking forward to your's as well! I spotted Billy T's tonight and thought it might also be of interest to gordons. I forgot all about BAM, Dizzie! That is a great set! It would seem that M3 has or will have lots of good looking "duds" to wear! :)

xoconostle ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 12:18 AM

Sorry, but I found BAM3 to be frustratingly unyielding. No body morphs at all, and even on the unmorphed M3, I experienced too much "poke-through" on the tank top with even the most static sort of standing poses. I think what people would like is everyday wear that allows for more body shape freedom without having to rely on The Tailor.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 1:21 AM

Phil, How about adding a "Pendleton shirt"? A couple of mine have actually been by Pendleton, although I prefer the plain ones to the patterns. The texture known as "chamois" is very comfortable. They are usually a second layer (with t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt under them), and often worn unbuttoned (unless the wind is blowing). Very useful for camping, cowboy, farmhouse, etc. type pictures. Another casual look is a sweater tied around the neck rather than being worn (it reminds me of Hercules wearing a lion's skin). It would possibly be a devil to model... but no worry about poke-through! ;^) Carolly

Dizzie ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 3:43 AM

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 5:31 AM

Dizzie, none of those morps are M3 bodymorphs... Bodymorphs are stuff like Muscular, tone, heavy, skinny... that sort of things :o) I don't see much point in having a character with gazillions of morphs and then dress it in some clothes that requires it to be un-morphed. Do you? :o) Uzilites stuff looks very impressive (and very expensive too) but if it indeed has no body morphs, it will be of very limited use for me.

sandoppe ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 10:07 AM

This was the first Utilize purchase I've made, largely because the price of this set at $23.96 was less than most of their stuff, for all that's included. I think they have individual shirts that cost that much. I suspect the absence of morphs is why the price is lower. I don't see any body morphs with Billy T's either, but will likely purchase it anyway. I do agree that M3 clothing should include the M3 body morphs, but we can't seem to get merchants to go there. So......I guess I'll post a new thread and get everyone's opinion about the Tailor! :)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 10:16 AM

That is one of the reasons I have never picked up anything other than one set of Uzilites and I haven't used it at all ... Looks good, can't put it on figures that I want to use. I mean even any kind of morphs would be good. And Tailor is good for those peopel that can figure it out, have the patience for it and can use it. I can't since it is PC only ..

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 10:38 AM

I haven't bought Uzilites before either because of the same concerns, but I bought this set because I liked the set so much, and I am hoping megaionstorm or someone similar will do morphs for the clothes as they have in the past. I realize this means yet another expenditure, but it would be nice to have some flexibility. The Uzilites clothes seem to be focused on an ultra thin look that I'm not terribly fond of.

Drew2003 ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 3:17 PM

I've read lots of references to "moving" or "copying" morphs from one figure to another here and on related boards. Is there not some way to make the clothing figure(s) have the ability to "accept" the morphs we have for M3 himself?? I don't know much about it, but if the geometry of a pair of pants matches closely to M3, then it sounds logical that M3's leg morphs would be "injectable" into the pants, doesn't it? - Drew

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 3:47 PM

Closely isn't enough. For a morph to work the number of vertices must be exactely the same. Only if the pants were made FROM M3's mesh would the morphs PERHAPS be injectable. Perhaps becourse it also depends on how they are cut :o)

RHaseltine ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 3:49 PM

A morph works by telling Poser to move a specific point a certain distance in a certain direction - it's just a list of "deltas" (amounts to move up, left and forward) so it will work only when the right number of points are present, in the right order. It is extremely dumb and can't compensate for even minor changes, which is why creating a morph with a modeller that re-orders the points can produce - umm - interesting results.

And just for the record, I don't like the Tailor. I've never had decent results with it. All my morphs are done with magnets. The only reason my first 2 sets for Michael 3 didn't include all his morphs is because I ran out of time before the release. I am currently making all the morphs for the Genesis Rage and SciFi Outfits and they will be available for y'all really soon. (I'm moving house so my schedule is weird so it could take longer than I expect)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 5:17 PM

Xena ... I like those morphs and thank you so much for updating the others ...

sandoppe ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 6:12 PM

That looks very good Xena and certainly more than we see in most! But could you also add the "heavy" and the "old"? :) There are a few of us who like to use those once in awhile!

Crescent ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 6:44 PM

Is the set you're listing something coming out soon? And since you mentioned it, are the morphs for the SciFi Outfit and Genesis Rage free updates or an update pack for sale? (I'm asking as possible buyer, not as a Mod. Yes, merchants can talk about their products here if it's relevant to the questions at hand.) :)

Xena ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 7:15 PM

Sandoppe, I won't add the Heavy nor the Emaciated for personal reasons (and I got called PC for it LMAO!). Old? Does the body change enough with the old dial to warrant FBM's in clothing? I can definately have a look and maybe add it as a little freebie, as this pack is already submitted and hopefully available real soon. Cres, yeap for something soon :) The morphs for the SciFi and GR Outfits will be (not 100% definite) update packs available at Poser Pros for $2.49 each. It depends on the finished zip size whether or not they will be at Poser Pros in their Club or just here for $5 each (lowest amount possible in this store).

catlin_mc ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 8:22 PM

Xena will these morphs only work with your products or could they be used with other pieces too? I'm still a child with all things Poser but if I don't ask these silly questions I'll never know. 8D Cheers Catlin

sandoppe ( ) posted Wed, 22 October 2003 at 9:15 PM

Xena: To tell you the truth, I don't have a clue what effect the old morph would have on clothing :) Ah well....."skinny" is probably close enough to emaciated, and "stocky" will probably work for heavy....especially with the "belly out" and "big Glute" options! Maybe I can use the "baggy" option to get "old"!! LOL!

Xena ( ) posted Thu, 23 October 2003 at 12:07 AM

The morphs only work with the clothes they are designed for. Pity there wasn't such a thing as unimorphs :D If you can use magnets, you can morph anything to fit anyone with enough patience and skill. My patience levels have increased tenfold since learning the darned things LOL
