I don't post very often. It isn't cause I'm anti-social. I'm just such a newbie I usually don't know what to say. But now I've definitely got something. Recently, my memory dots disappeared. I mean they are gone! I'm using Poser 5, and yes, I've made sure they are checked in the menu, and I've moved all the other elements around every which way I can to see if anything might be hiding them, but no. I mean they are just gone, gone, gone. Is this a known bug? Do I need to reinstall Poser now? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just go to General Preferences and set to Interface Preferences to "Launch to Factory state". Hit OK. No need to reinstall Poser.

Thanks for the advice. But I already did that. It didn't work. Just to be sure, I did it again just now. Still didn't work. My dots are gone, gone, gone, I tell you. Gone!

By the way, I noticed the missing dots right around the time I tried to run a Python utility (PCB Zoom Tool) that I belatedly figured out was designed for Poser 4 only. I got an error that read: Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 6, in ? ImportError: Bad magic number in G:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimePythonPCB-ToolszoomPathNormaliser.py Anybody think this could this have had anything to do with it?

Hold on a sec... searching old posts. Ah, a possible solution, from compiler: "Are you using Poser 5 ? It just happened to me. I tried to relaunch to factory state, to no avail. Then I went into the material room and my dots were there. I clicked on the UI dot I keep saved in cases like this and now everything is going OK." Check this out and I'll check for more solutions. :)

Another possible solution, from uli_k: " Hi Guys, I was posting something like this a couple days ago: Either: Choose 'Launch to preferred state' under Edit->General Prefs. If the problem persists, delete your non-default UI prefs in runtime/prefs and start Poser again. Or: Try to use 'Launch to factory state'. If you're on SR3, go to Runtime/Prefs and create a directory called 'English'. Move your default prefs to that directory. Deleting the non-defaults shouldn't be needed here. Let me know if any of this helps." Those darn memory dots!! ;)

the same thing happenned to me the darn dots dissapeared and I didn't want to reinstall so i just learned to live without them lol, recently I changed my small screen resolution to a larger one and the dots magically appeared once again, only thing i could think is that they were stuck way outside the viewing area, not sure why the preference restore didn't fix them but i'm just glad they are back lol anywyas try changing your resolution to a much larger from what you are using now and maybe you have the same luck.

Glad to know I am not the only one, mine are gone too but I am sure they are somewhere out of the screen. Maybe I do what Dash did and just change the screen resolution from 1024 to something above.

I think the dots can be relocated when a .pz3 file, created by somebody else using a different window size, is opened. I've been living without them on my laptop, but will try a few of the tips here to restore them.

After you get the preferred state back the way you want, consider making a backup copy of the file...

Okay. I had tried everything else, e.g., launching to factory state, changing screen resolution, deleting non-default UI files. But when I went to the Material Room and saw they were there, even though I did not have a "UI dot I keep saved in cases like this," I did have a UI dot saved from sometime in the past. Since I'd already tried everything else suggested with no result, I decided to click on that dot. My dots are back in the Pose room! Thanks, kuroyume0161. Sorry, didn't have access to Poser directory before. I believe it's Runtime/prefs/preferredstate.pz3 and /Poser UI Prefs_yyyyxzzzz where yyyy and zzzz are your chosen screen resolution values. Should be easy to confirm though, as they'll have a current date. Mightn't hurt to save copy of Poser.ini too...
