Subject: Not sure how to ask this....but, could one of you amazing artists help me...

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 24 October 2003 at 10:34 AM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 1:07 PM

Okay, this is going to sound strange, but my request is based on this....when I married Mike, 23 years ago, I was recently divorced and had a son (you know Andy), anyway, his birth father would never let Mike adopt Andy for pride or whatever. Mike raised Andy with me and Andy adores Mike. Andy's birth father never saw him, and they to date have no relationship, well no they have some, but not much. Anyway, Andy grew up and is now married and 26, has a boy of his own and one on the way. Make a long story short, the adoption is a go, now that Andy is of age we decided to do the adoption, and on Tuesday October 28, the judge will declare Andy as Mike's adoptive son. Very exciting to me. Now for my request from you all, I gotta party to plan on very short notice, I need to make an invitaion card and I want the front to depict a grown son and his father...doing father son stuff or just standing I really don't care....but nice, you know in the father son way.....I just don't have time to do one myself and wanted to know if someone either can come up with one for me by Sunday morning, or already has one I can use. The artist's name would of course go on these invites. Please let me know if you can help me. I am posting this thread in the Poser forum as well. Thank you for your time. Sharen

Hi Sharen, I think this is so sweet. I can't make any promises because I just got home from work, but I will give it a go once I have had a nap. (: Of course, someone else may come up with something before then....so don't worry if you don't use one that I may send later. (: Congrats to you all, hearing nice things like this, always make my day. genny

I am sure you'll get a number of ideas....but I'll see what I can come up with between now and then. Is there anything that they are into together? Sports, Cars, Hunting, Hiking....etc Claymor

catlin_mc ( ) posted Fri, 24 October 2003 at 10:55 AM

Sharen I will do my best to come up with an image for you before Sunday. If it's not to your liking that's ok 'cos this is a very special occasion and deserves the best of everything. You once helped me a great deal and I told you then if I could ever repay you just let me know. So if I can help you with this I will. My very best wishes to you, Mike and Andy. 8) Catlin

I will be using more then one image, it goes on the invitations and another picture with a poem I made today. Thank you again for your help....I can't wait to see them, this surely does help me out. Sharen

Not certain if I can get anything together, but like Catlin I would love to help, so will give it a go. My thoughts will be with you all anyway.

Claymor, they like riding Mike's old John Deere Tractor or just working around the house together....Mike had Andy come on jobs with him in construction, and yes they do like to fish. Sharen

Sharen, I don't do fishermen, but can perhaps contribute a background. Last weekend was my birthday and all I wanted was a nice hike to a lake I had never visited and a hot piece of berry pie afterwards. It was a terrible weekend. The migraine was raging, I couldn't sleep because of the rudeness of some nearby campers (at 1am I crawled out and hissed at them... by then I was so green that they probably thought it was contagious), the hike was a long slog through less than pretty country until I crested the ridge, the destination lake was surprisingly dull (it is set in a glacial cirque... a sort of sheer granite amphitheatre... the sort that Maclean knows about) and not worth a picture at all, and the restaurant with the pie was closed for the season. :( I pulled up stakes and drove home. I only took two pictures, and am disappointed in them, but both are of places frequented by fishermen. They are 1791 pixels wide, and could be emailed to someone who thinks they could crop or cajole a suitable backdrop out of them. This first is looking down at Lower Gaylor Lake. Perhaps a couple of fishermen could be standing there with gear sticking out of their packs and anticipatory thoughts of dinner on their faces? (In spring that lakeside area is marshy hummocks and the wildflowers ought to be great.) Carolly

And here is the second picture. The Toulumne River is very low at this time of year...and I could easily see the trout swimming upstream (very clear water). Perhaps a couple of fishermen on the left bank? Or their reflections from the far side? Both of these are evening shots, so the time of day would be right. I was trying to get Cathedral Peak reflected in the river, but the peak itself has mostly vanished in the glare. :sigh: Also 1971 pixels wide. Anyway, if someone thinks these could be useful, let me know, because I'd like to help. ... and I'm glad that you are celebrating a family experience. {hug} Carolly

By the way Sharen, what color hair do Mike and Andy have, facial hair etc? I think it would be cool to make the guys in the image fit their general physical description so that your husband and son can identify with them more. Just a thought.

Went with fishing and tried to leave you some space at the top for text. Had to do a quick one though...I still have thank-you cards for soccer coaches to do tonight. Hope it helps. :) Have a great celebration this weekend!!!!

danamo ( ) posted Sat, 25 October 2003 at 3:05 AM

Oooooh, very nice job Claymor! I wouldn't mind getting this card myself!

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sat, 25 October 2003 at 6:02 AM

Claymor , that is great....I love it. Let's see Mike has gray to white hair now....he looks good though...LOL...Andy has almost black hair. He is taller than Mike by about 4 inches, larger than Mike around the chest, he is a big boy. He always wears his baseball hat backwards, but recently wears those bandanas on his head. Sharen

Sharen do you remember my entry to one of your comps. I think it got third so couldn`t be too bad. Anyway it showed a father and son getting ready to go fishing. If you think that it could be suitable let me know. I could always push the little girl off the end of the jetty and re render it.

Sambucus ( ) posted Sat, 25 October 2003 at 11:02 AM

Ah, just reread your original post and you want a GROWN son. Probably not what you had in mind then. Still I could always make him bigger. Instant hormones LOL. Claymors looks good, though, doesnt it.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sat, 25 October 2003 at 2:55 PM

Sambuccus, oh I forgot all about this, it is great, I will use it on the poster board, it isn't signed though....I would love to show your work with your name on it....we have an invitation that needs the picture and a board that is showing only CGI work of father and son. If you don't mind adding your signature I will definately use this. So, far I am adding all of these pics on the board. It doesn't have to be a grown son. Sharen

Hi Sharen, I think that Claymors picture is just beautiful, it captures the mood just perfectly.(: I also created two images for you, and I wouldn't mind at all if you didn't use them, I just wanted to give you a little something, to say Thanks for all you have given to us. Due to the file restrictions I put the images here....they are yours to use or not, your choice, and I don't need any credits.(: genny

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 26 October 2003 at 5:24 AM

Oh my Genny, that is it...perfect.....it goes on the invitation, but I still want to fill up the board, I am using your second one for the invitation...I am on it now and the first one goes on the board. You have to sign them though, it will be public viewing these. Thank you so much. Sharen

genny ( ) posted Sun, 26 October 2003 at 7:58 AM

Hi Sharen, I am not sure what the "Board" is? but really I never sign any of my images and I don't mind what you want to use them for. Really, you have my total and complete permission to use then how-ever you please. (: I am sure the party will be a smash, have a great time and take some pictures to share with us. genny

genny ( ) posted Sun, 26 October 2003 at 8:01 AM

DUH.......I just read the post about the board LOL! Anyways....you can use it there, what I said before still stands. genny
