Subject: Random Forum Header Banner - Now up and running

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 29 October 2003 at 11:52 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 4:46 AM

So, now you should see a randomly displayed banner in the forum header from the 36 banners we now have. I will add more as we get more in. You should get a different banner each time you call up a different page within the Bryce forum, or when just refreshing the page. Every once in a while...you will get the same image twice in a row, I'm playing around with some html to try and get rid of that. Also - New Spotlight Link of the week - Evocative; How to create emotive images and animations. An interesting article that really can be aplpied to any art medium. Have fun with your banners! The rotating banner idea is the BEST since sliced bread, I hope we are the only forum with this, it's so cool!!!!

Nice one. :)

Looks cool! But... where's the link gone that we had to the upload area? I think you should make a new temporary link for that. or try to find a way to make the link work by clicking on the banner too.

Zhann reminded me too...It's not me unless I forget one thing... I re-did the header, there is a text link now for the banner upload area. AS

This is very cool, thanks for the effort to put this in AS, it's kind of cool to see everyone elses contributions and see a little bit of your own work up there, .

Very cool! I found myself reloading the page nearly one hundred times to see all the banners this morning. :) J.

Cool beans. A new banner everytime the page loads. The banners are great people. You all have done nice work with them. I need to get one done now. heh heh heh.

I hate to bring this up after the Mac attack below but this change has pretty much clobbered the Bryce Forum (only) under Mac OS10.2.6 and IE 5.2.2. The text formating is way off and it's ignoring the colors set up in the profile (text, links, etc are all white) but this reply text and all other forums work fine. But the new banner display works quite nicely :-) Best; Dan

Does the same thing under Mac OS9.2 - Here's a screen cap of what it's doing. This is with my Profile's color reset to the default. Best; Dan

Bryce Forum "Deluxed Mixed Nuts" - ROFLMAO!

When I saw that, I couldn't help cracking up!

Anyhow, some of these are really good. Any rules or guidelines for submitting them, or did I miss something?

Let me try switching something on the header, see if it will help you Dan. Hold on... AS

In my Frontpage, I had taken the background color and text color from both being "automatic" to forcing it to be black background and white text. This was the only change I had made to the header other than the "random image" html, which was just an copy and paste insert into the html that already exsisted. Hope this clears things up? Yes/no?
