Here's a closeup rendering using the simple "leaning tower" Bryce object that comes with the "Pisa" materials I've posted to Free Stuff. This rendering uses the hi-rez version of the material, though a lo-rez version of the mat (more practical for distant objects) is also included. The object is a grouping of three tall, concentric cylinders. The innermost cylinder has an opaque texture applied, while the outer two have the hi-rez Pisa material applied. My attempt was to make a material that would easily apply a "Romanesque" look to simple Bryce objects.

One thing to keep in mind when using Bryce materials, is that they are essentially 2D in nature. So when seen edge-on, all the bumpmapping in the word still looks like a thin line. Careful choices in use -- and especially some postproduction -- are nearly always required.
