Ok..Martic C provided the correct settings in Mac Converter for those items to get encoded properly! Jim sent them as usual in sit format,so I've just added them up along with the previous Barbarella pcfs...and hopefully I'm done with this update for GOOD!! :o) Have fun!

MacConverter failed to convert the .pcf file. Any suggestions? --ratta

ratta: I just downloaded both .sit files from fairywoods, using IE5, dropped them into Mac Converter (V 1.1.2), and both decoded without a hitch. What kind of error is Mac Converter giving you? Your "seed file" (the original Zygote obj file) must reside in Runtime/Geometries/ZygoteClothing/MilWom/. The file names are blDress.obj and blCatSuit.obj You MUST have the Victoria Clothing Pack or the files will not decode. Please contact me at jnmoore@usaor.net if you need further assistance, I will be more than happy to anything I can to assure your satisfaction. -Jim Moore

Hmmm... let me try IE 5. I was getting "Failed to Convert" and "Use with Caution" then "Failed..." errors. I'll do it now and report back. Thanks, Jim. And Ren, don't pull that trigger. --ratta

Oh, well. I get a "Maybe Wrong Seed File" message with CR/LF or L/F selected, then a "Failed" message, and "Failed" when CR is selected (that covers all 3 options in the Convert PCF dialog). I do have the blCatSuit.obj file. I even reloaded the version 1 .obj file, thinking the .pcf file was looking for that one, but still no dice. I'm using MacConverter 1.1.2. Is there a newer version? If there is, that could be the problem. --ratta

I think I see the problem here -- the options you describe, "CR" and "LF" are for ENCODING a .pcf file, not decoding it (these options are not present when you decode a .pcf file). If you haven't already, put Mac Converter on your desktop (just drag it from whatever folder it's in now in your hard drive window to the desktop. If you want to keep a backup copy, hold down the option key while dragging and a copy of Mac converter will be generated instead). I keep it in the same area as the drives, expander, drop stuff, etc. Drag the pcf file (in this case blCatSuit2.pcf) onto the Mac Converter program icon and, when it turns dark, release the mouse button. You should get a window that's titled "PC -> Mac Conversion" on the screen. the first three options are black and "checked" -- leave them as is! The rest of the options will be greyed out. Click on the Convert radio button and Mac Converter will do the rest. Hit Command - Q when it's finished and Mac Converter will close. You will now find an obj file in the same place, and in place of, the pcf file you started out with. Place this file in in the same folder as the original file ( :Runtime :Geometries :ZygoteClothing :MilWom ). This should solve your problems. If you still have problems, you can either email me or post another reply to this thread -- I'll check back in a few hours. -Jim Moore

Jim, there is a problem with the file. I checked Rena's "blcatsuitUV2.pcf" and get the same problem as ratta. What he describes above is also not the encoding dialog, it is what happens when Maconverter runs into trouble during decoding. If it either can't find the correct seedfile or runs into invalid codes, it will prompt you with a dialog offering a last chance to repair things - you may force it to a specific mapping which it will try. If all three choices will fail, it simply means that the chosen seedfile is completely wrong, and exactly this happened with my seedfile as well. Rena, the "blcatsuitUV2.pcf" shows it is encoded with Mover, so I guess you did it? In this case I have no idea why Jim was able to decode it. One thing that I found is the spelling of "blcatsuit.obj", while the Zygote file is "blCatSuit.obj". This is certainly not the source of our problems, but it might suggest that you modfied/re-saved the file at any point (and because Poser will use blCatSuit.rsr first it might be unnoticed by you). Could you try to re-install the seedfile from your original Zygote download, and then try Mover? If it fails, then we found out about it. If not then we are probably in trouble, because it could mean that the Mac/PC files are significantly different. I personally can't believe this, because it never happened before, and there is no reason for such a thing.

Martin..I had never touched the female catsuit before remapping them for Barbarella..first time I use this item! And I just checked my Geometries/P4clothes/Suits/ and found a blcatsuit.obj and rsr no blCatSuit.obj On original poser4 I had installed the very first patch that came out (manual) and then the final one (manual version as well)..but I don't recall any of them altering the specific obj...so I honestly don't know what's the problem.... For the catsuitUV3 the answer is very easy even without a uvs or pcf..Just load the catsuit in uvmapper and remap to planar mode/don't split and you can save the new map and obj under the name blcatsuitUV3. Same applies for Pygar's wings and you name the new obj birdWingsUVplanar. I did that mostly to save space and keep maps high resolution but at smaller file size! But for the catsuitUV2...that's a whole different story..too many things have changed! So the last help I can offer is to send me private emails and I will forward to each one interested the objs zipped! I can't think of anything else to solve this mess and keep everybody happy!..sigh!

Rena, I found the problem! I will contact you by e-mail because it is a bit tricky. Whoever has problems with the files - please be patient, I'm optimistic that you will get working files pretty soon.

Thank Godess. I'm not insane. --ratta hmmm... well maybe just a bit. Thnaks, folks.

MartinC ( ) posted Wed, 09 August 2000 at 3:37 AM

ratta - nope, you're not... :-) And the solution is...: There were some recent issues with various catsuits, all caused by an almost similar name of two different files. There is a P4 catsuit in: :Runtime:Geometries:Poser4Clothes:Suits:blcatsuit.obj and a Vicki one in: :Runtime:Geometries:ZygoteClothing:MilWom:blCatSuit.obj Whenever you find an encoded file for one of it (no matter if it is PCF/UVS or Mac/PC) make sure to select the correct file when you're prompted for it. The lowercase filename is P4, the upper/lowercase one is Vicki. Most of the time, Maconverter will automatically find the correct one, but if it asks watch the spelling. Cheers, MartinC
