You'll notice in this image that the "cell" around the alpha plane actually shows up as a partly transparent square. It only does this in dark atmospheres. Any ideas? I tried to fiddle with some of the material controls, but I'm not sure which ones to do.

This happens only in some volumetric atmospheres. Try to use another atmosphere and make sure your Vue copy is updated to the latest version. Guitta

Yes, when I changed to this atmophere, it cleared it up. And yeah, I have the latest updates. But you're right, it only seems to happen with certain atmopheres. Oh well, I guess it's one of those charming little Vue quirks I'll have to learn to live with, and work around:) Maybe they'll come out with another update to fix this some day. Thanks for the help.

You may want to use one of gracia's mansion or chateau models... That way it doesn't matter what atmosphere you use.. You can find them here... http://gracia.alain.free.fr/index.htm

Thanks, but this time I'm trying to recreate a particular historic spot near where I live, so I am taking photos of it from various angles an applying them to alpha planes. I did go to the site though, and it looks like some useful stuff. Thanks again.

lo i had this problem just now lol, after a lot of looking and trying to find out why it was like that i noticed that when i made the alpha the white background colour was just off white and thats what made the plane shw up in the volumetric atmos. so i made the background totlay white and that seems to have sorted the problem out follow link to see image
