I've been having the same problem! :( Haven't been able to leave comments for the last 2 days. This is the error I keep getting: /viewed.ez: Blank page detected. Please contact the system administrator. This may be due to a full temp partition.

Oops, I forgot to say, I CAN access the galleries, but when I try to submit a comment, that's what I get ... :(

I can barely get into the forums. I don't bother trying the galleries

Neyjour thats exactly what Im getting but as from today the gallery's are playing me up also with that load of jargon I pasted above! Thanks all the same:-) Im not alone it appears!

pookah69 ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 2:38 PM

Maybe Renderosity is growing too big too fast to handle the increase in bandwidth? Could this be the end of this free service as we know it? I for one would be willing to pay something for the incredible resource that Renderosity has been to me.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 2:54 PM

Speak for yerself, pookah. RO takes a cut of every product I sell, although I haven't sold a great deal yet, I'm hoping that will change for the better as I become better known as a merchant here. I'd be royally pissed if they wanted a subscription from me, too.

All I ever do is speak for myself. The words in my post, above, "I for one..." imply that I am speaking for myself. I can empathize with the vendors such as yourself: still, I have observed however that there is a tremendous sense of entitlement among the renderosity subscribers for a service that is essentially free.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 3:48 PM

I know, I was baiting you. :) Anyhow, you have a point about the entitlement bit. I subscribe to a music website which, although there isn't a subscription fee, contributions are always welcome. Those of us who have contributed get the word "Supporter" above our names and a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Recently their have been people trying to download the entire gallery, and this has been overloading the system. They are working on blocking it.

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 3:50 PM

Just tried the galleries and got "Renderosity Galleries Temporarily Disabled " Looks like the server may have pooped out :-(

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

It's those dang hackers again!

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

What does it mean to "download an entire gallery?" How and why would anybody want to view more than one image at a time, unless they were up to something...er, nefarious?

SamTherapy ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 4:09 PM

Believe it or not, that's what they do. There have been several instances of artists finding their work claimed by other people in other online galleries, or offered as free clip art, backdrops and screen savers.

Because there up to something nefarious! Yes Renderosity is under siege. Or there really was around 4300 members online at on time Friday and then again on Saturday night. That's about twis the norm. :

Or may it's not that at all today.

Hmmmmmmmm alot of intesting stuff!Well atleast Its global and I feel a damn lot better now!Hey no I dont!LOL!! Would usage being made more resticted help?!I know some people who have hundreds upon hundreds of images -and load 3 daily!I would like to see this amount fizzled down somewhat!Would it really help or am I barking up the wrong tree.If people are here in 4000 plus figures and lots are uploading thats gotta be clotting the veins huh?Perhaps ,maybe, kinda thing, dya reckon! Well lets se what develops... ...VOTE 3 IMAGES A WEEK MAX!... As Del boy says "you know it makes sense"!LOL! Oh what the baloni do I know! Thanks everyone for your leads:-)

Riddokun ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:00 PM

in fact i would have been interested since long ago to download the entire gallery, or at least one section/software specific or even a sub branch of it I never tried though because of the way the site is built (most robots i know to use are difficult to set up for this task) anyway i would still appreciate a way to automatically download a whole category while not clicking on each pic (ex: sleeping in my bed) but in a way it would not disturb the server itself(maybe one thread at a time or something) any advices ?

RNKarenER ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:35 PM

OK, I just tried to leave a commment and got that /viewed.ez: Blank page detected. Please contact the system administrator. This may be due to a full temp partition. Any ideas?

pookah69 ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:47 PM

THe disadvantage of a free service is that people feed at the trough like pigs--think of those repulsive "All you can eat" buffets where people pile their plates higher than common sense would ever dictate. I don't think any artist of merit is so prolific that they produce three images a day that are worth posting. I'm prepared to get flamed for saying this, but if by paying for the service it forces people to self-edit, then I'm in favor of it.

geoegress ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:53 PM

Pay no- restrict -yes :) I've been saying for years it should be limited to 3 a week. Also that images who recieve less the 50 viewings in 30 days should be flushed. let the flaming begin...

SamTherapy ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 5:53 PM

Karen - Ilona gave me the following advice... Back page, then refresh. Your comment should show up. Pookah - no flames from me; I partly agree with you. Posting three images a day is taking the piss. A little restraint wouldn't hurt the postaholics.

calum5 ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 6:07 PM

Yes -everyone with a bit of sense see's three a week is plenty! 3 A day is as described above by Sam,LOL:-) Renderosity had a vote not long ago! I think more ppl voted to keep 3 a day due to them being newbies(perhaps)and being of greater numbers with the longing to just upload ,upload ,Uuploaaaaaaaaaad! Cant vote ?sense gets out voted, look at the ARNIE SWARTCH??lol! Renderosity must just implement something!!

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 11:35 PM

Only problem I've had (other than that whole view count fiasco) was the comment error, which is just bothersome at best, since the comments actually go in anyways. As for posting 3 a day -vs- 3 a week, I can build a character in a couple of hours now, maybe even less if there's not much to change. 3 a week wouldn't help me much, but that's just me. Your mileage may vary.

Darkginger ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 1:21 AM

I thought the rules had changed as from November 1st, (according to the Forum News forum) and now we're limited to one upload per day (not that I have a problem with that - I'd be happy to be able to produce an image a day!). Am I wrong? Perhaps I'm wrong about the date, because I noticed at least one person uploading more than one image on November 1st....

Darkginger ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 1:30 AM

Just checked - it's November 3rd, not 1st!

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 9:20 AM

One a day is still very generous, I think. Still...I think I would prefer that each user be limited to a certain gallery size, rather than a certain number of uploads per day or per week. That way, people who prefer to do occasional large updates could be accommodated, as well as those who like to upload something new every day.

calum5 ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 12:25 PM

Damn that comment I left at(25) seems so rude today!I didnt have sense' about me to put ***anyone with any sense!?***Im sorry multi uploaders!!!I didnt mean it like that!I just feel that perhaps it may aid the sites running demands if we were more ltd in one way or another!Randym77 has a valid point and actually so doe's yggdrasil! Peace guys:)

Neyjour ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 1:03 PM

That's actually how Elfwood does it. They give you a 50 pic limit (though I'm sure Renderosity could bump that number up) which works quite nicely. :) I don't know how others would feel about something like that though. I'm very new and only produce a single render every week or so ... I might feel differently if I was good enough to whip out several per day! ;) But anyway, it's an idea if Renerosity feels they need to limit the number of images uploaded. :)
