I just downloaded this cool little program 2 weeks ago and followed some tutorials. These are my first experiments with it and I really love it. They'll be there as freebies but in the meantime you can download them at the link.

And an octopus. Only thing I can't get the hang of is how to map them properly: I always end up having multiple meshes for one object wich I can't get to work together. Oh well, will try that later :)

Very nicely done Kylara. I have monkeyed around with Wings3D a bit but not with any seriousness yet. These are really nice models. 8)

Great modelling work Kylara, and thanks so much for sharing your creations. 8) Catlin

Holy guacamole batman! These are fantastic models. You are on your way to galactic domination of the modeling world.

REAL NICE, K! I'm with Groin on this one. If that's your first try, you're a natural.

Thanks :) And... Well, not really a first try of course. I started by following all the tutorials I could find. They really helped. And they're not good models yet coz I see a lot of things that I should have done differently (like mapping before posing them). Oh well, I start to learn modelling just yet and I like it. It seems to me as if Wings3D does it almost automatically for me.

wow!! these are your first tries?!? that octopus is amazing, i agree w/ boomer and groin---I cant wait to you get even more practice, you will defintley blow everyone else out of the water!! congrats. Jordan

Excellent first efforts with Wings! I've been goofing around with it for a few months, but I haven't built any models as impressive as these.

Slakker ( ) posted Wed, 12 November 2003 at 5:11 PM

Wow...i'm rather impressed.

Wow amazing!! Need to try wings 3d! Have you tried UVMapper after youve completed your mesh and saved it as an obj? Not sure this will work as haven't tried wings3d but good luck c".)

This kills me, I can't (traditional) model to save my life, and this is your first attempt in Wings. I went ahead and ordered the droids to silence you in your sleep. (awesome work) AgentSmith

I've used the UV-mapping in Wings and tried UVMapper classic. I can map it alright but I get a seam somewhere when I unfold it. That seam is not a problem as long as I use a single color over those seams. I can't get a complicated texture to look like it's seamless though.

Kylara ( ) posted Thu, 13 November 2003 at 12:28 AM

Thanks AS :) Now if someone could give me a hint on how to make it work for Mac too... (coz I have no clue at all what I should do for that.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 13 November 2003 at 3:19 AM

Oh, don't ask me, lol, I haven't any clue about anything Mac. :o( I made a seamless/tilable frog skin, and applied it to your whalefrog "object cubic". Even though seamless, seams still showed up, I took care of those with a few minues of post work. AS
