I am starting a system for my png's and rsr's that I thought I would share with everyone and possibly get some feedback. I am adding icons to my png's (rsr's) so that people can have a visual indication of what the MAT does as they scroll through the library. Thus it should bake it easier to find the file you are looking for. For example if the MAT applies a texture I have added a paint tube with dripping paint. MATS that just change object colors have a rainbow spectrum. Turning materials on and off have a their own scheme. If the MAT changes the highlights then I have added a chrome ball. A mannequin icon for just regular pose files. If anyone wants the icons for their own use let me know. Cheers! Phillip

I pretty much understood everything without even reading it - How about using a green check mark for the "turn material on" ? I think that would work better.

Nalif, Thanks for the suggestion! I think that might work. How about this?

I like it better with the checkmark. I don't think the green frame on it's own said what would happen, but the checkmark does :o) The other ones are great. Good idea!

great idea, we have standard formats for most things why not these too :)

the3dwizard, Much better! Now just stroke the outsides in black like you did the "no" sign. I agree with having a standard mat system. The only problem with that is that very few of the merchants will worry about following it, so it won't really be a standard.

If we could persuade even one of the big sellers to adopt them (daz for instance) others would soon follow, specially if they made it part of the brokering terms to use them.

Nalif ( ) posted Sun, 16 November 2003 at 1:41 PM

There's no way Daz is going to use them - they already pretty much have a standard anyways. Most of the products I've purchased from them do.

I really wouldn't expect these to become standards. However I would hope this encourages sellers to use some kind of system to make it easier on their customers. Hopefully customer will start to demand it? Now back to the scheme. It occured to me I need an icon for MOR files. Any ideas?

Assuming I understand properly what a MOR is, how about a little hand icon (as in "reshaping")? And if you're going to do INJ/REM poses, an empty/full syringe comes to mind.
