Subject: M3 To Freak

Has anybody attempted to convert M3 clothing to the Freak using the Maniquin and the Tailor??

lhiannan ( ) posted Thu, 20 November 2003 at 12:10 PM

No, but I plan to. That's not quite the answer you wanted to hear, is it? :D

tonymouse ( ) posted Thu, 20 November 2003 at 12:14 PM

Hey any answer if fine with me, let me know if you are successufull or not. I plan on doing it to but am cought up a huge project for school and will be a week or so befor I can get to it. The bigest question I have is about the Freaks joint paramiter. If they are really different I haven't figured out how to set a pose file that changes though yet.

I'm working on transfering a Freak-shaped morph to the Pirate clothing right now (I wasn't going to work on this yet but I wanna know). I don't know about the JP's, I don't even have a clue how to set them up. I'm going to see if the item conforms correctly or not and may or may not (depending on result) run it through P-Wizard to see how that works. I'll post back in a little while with my results.

Alright, corny enough subject line but it works...

Presenting, Mr. F wearing M3's Pirate Clothing.

For the most part, simple transfer of morphs, then loaded/conformed to the Freak and turned the clothing's new dial to "Freak"... Some pokethru issues that are solved by the usual curative measures (scaling, invisibility).... NO postwork, no morphs on the Freak except M3's expressions and whatever the little guy comes preloaded with.

All in all, it works, at least for the Pirate clothing.

Ok, I'm going to work now.

Cool!!! It sounds like he JP's are the same or nearly so!! Yeah!!! But what will happen when I transfer my favorite clothes from M2 to M3 and then to the Freak. Oh what a mangled mess we weave when we attempt to Tailor and succeed!! tony

ookami ( ) posted Thu, 20 November 2003 at 2:09 PM

How are you doing the morphs? Are you using Tailor?

lhiannan ( ) posted Thu, 20 November 2003 at 10:01 PM

Well, I would imagine that there wouldn't be any problems converting to Freak from M2 than if you went M3 from M2. Ookami, yep, via Tailor... Using the tut at Daz Tutorial Arcana, created an M3 mannequin prop with a "Freak" shaped morph and used it to put a "Freak" morph into the Pirate pak. From this test, it appears that ole Mr. F and M3 share JP's, or are very similar. Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful if someone with the knowhow would create a JP Pose for the Freak to truly get his clothes to fit just right?

Ok... M2 to Freak by way of Tailor. I used the M3 JP's pose provided with the tutorial at Daz Arcana. There were still a few issues, mostly because M2 and M3 aren't in exactly the same position to start and this caused a few things not to line up in the Tailor. Biggest trouble was covering the forearms, but some bending and morphing worked here. This image IS postworked, but the only thing postworked on the character itself is an area where it appears I broke the tunic elbow, probably by too much twisting. Freak's wardrobe just increased dramatically, methinks, with some work. Lhiannan

Guess I need to make a Freak JP pose. Well, there's a weekend coming up. I'll see what I can do.

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Fri, 21 November 2003 at 6:32 AM

Oh, forgot to mention: a lot of the unimesh figures will load as morphs for each other. So far I know M2_M3, M3, the Freak, and V3 (if you really want to hurt someone's soul) will. The V2_V3 will not, however. Just a little factoid for your mesh-distorting pleasure. ;)

FyreSpiryt or Anyone, There's also been much discussion about converting V3 clothing to Steph3. Any insite or how to's would be much appreciated.

tonymouse ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 3:46 PM

I would think that is you used the steph obj as a morph tatget with the vic 3 as the body saved as a pp2 you would be able to get the right body shape to vic 3 clothes in the tailor but steph is also a different size so I guess you might have to play with scaleing as well. this is all hawever conjecture as I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 6:00 PM

I gave it a shot with the MFD and a mannequin like tonymouse described, and except for the skirt, it came out pretty well. The skirt hem was too far away from the body to work with the default Tailor settings, and I was too lazy to reset them and go again. It looks like it'll work, though.

Strixowl ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 6:33 PM

Uh, real new to this and don't want to coop tonymouse's thread, but could you point me to something on how to use the mannequin and is it really saved as a pp2 ?? Think I'm beginning to get it. Not sure... Maybe :-)

Oh, sure. Follow my M2 to M3 tutorial, but instead of M2 load the V3 object, and instead of M3, load the Steph 3 object as the morph target. It really is saved as a pp2. You can force the Tailor to show props by typing "*.pp2" into the open dialog box. However, I'm not sure if this works in older versions of Tailor. Version 1.5 does fine, but earlier versions have been known to error out. 'Fraid I haven't made a Steph 3 joint setting pose yet, though.

Strixowl ( ) posted Thu, 08 January 2004 at 10:48 AM

Then to actually make the conversion via Tailor 1.5 a Steph3 Joint setting pose is needed. Would that be correct?
