THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Back everything up, they said.

The plan was to reinstall Bryce onto my external drive to eventually free up some space on my main drive and at the same time sort my .obp and .mat files into catagories that made more sense. Unfortunately the backup cd with the mat files on it wont load. DOH!
So, in presets I have a 20mb User.mat file. Is there any way I can convert that back to individual .mat files so I can sort them into new libraries, or do I have to spend the next week D/Ling them all again? Or is there any other way to go about this.
Help, guys. Sob.

Don't give up on that cd yet... go to arrowkey.com , they have a freebie, or used to anyway, program that you can use to recover your files. Of course this is a limited program, but it is worth a shot. I have the full version, it has saved my posterior side several times. :) For what it is worth, I have had a ton of failures on Memorex cd-r and cd-r/w. I won't buy memorex anymore. BabaLouie

It is very easy to export the materials to mat files that can have one or many materials in them. In Bryce, go to your material presets. Click the square with the material you want to export. It will have a red box around it. If you want multiple materials, hold the control key and keep clicking materials. When you have them selected, click Export. Bryce will come up with a dialog box and ask you to give it a name. Be very descriptive! Nothing is more anoying to have a material file with "preset1.mat" as the name! Once you have Bryce installed, you can import the mat files in what ever folder you want. Hope this helps! Peggy

Man, I just hate it when that happens.......I don't use Memorex either, I use Fujifilm CDR's and R-W's when I can get them. I have never had one not read or write perfectly, but they don't always have them at Walmart so then I go to IBM Imation or Sony. Guess you'll have to follow Peggy's instructions and then import again....

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately I hit another problem. Bryce wont let me install onto my F drive, probably because it has found a current installation on the C drive and will only let me over ride that. With my luck Im not going to remove one until the other is verified working so I guess Ill leave it where it is and just rearrange the files as Peggy suggested. Thanks again. BTW, the disk was Imation. I thought Memorex were supposed to be good. My pal pays 16, about $20, for 100 unbranded and hasn`t had a problem in years. Go figure.

One small tip that many people don't do. Burn at a lower speed that the rated speed of the disk. And run the test first. (never made a coaster)

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
