Subject: Tweakin PS under Win98/ME systems

My last few posts got me thinking. My wish for a hack to run PS under ME's responses, and the fact that I ran my system as a WinXP system before I got my soundcard, which XP did not play nice with at all. Under ME, however, it flippin juices. Low low latency, high quality recording and playback, and dual soundcard functinoality (while running under Mme, not ASIO). When the semester ends, I shall be reinstalling XP as a tri-boot system, unless of course there are some good ways at increasing Photoshop 7's speed under win98/me based systems. The only thing that actually bugs me, is when bringing up the Blending Options window. If I could get that sped up, I'd be hella pleased, as everything else seems to run quite alright. I had problems under XP (which might not have been XP related) with mouse and wacom strokes being straight edged instead of smoothe (as others in the forum also noted. Adobe didn't answer ya really did they Scott? Those arseholes...). anywho, yeah, tweaks for PS under 98/ME anyone? I've checked a few of my fav tweak sites, and done some quick searches, but found nothing really regarding Photoshop tweaks of any kind for any OS... ry

I run PS 5 on Win '98 and XP, flawlessly. most of my machine have 512 or more DDR, and I can't imagine why in the nine hells you would choose ME over XP, at all! I can't imagine choosing ME over '98, even... Anyways, I'm not trying to poke fun at ya, hope I don't sound this way... What problems are you having, exactly? Are they specific to version 7? If so, I'll just shut up... (grins atcha!)

I only use ME because XP doesn't agree with my soundcard, and with the M-Audio Quattro being a 400$ piece of hardware, it's more than worth it for me to work in WinME to do my sound stuff (which to me is more important than the graphic work) where the drivers actually function (the driverts for the quattro have long been known to be inconveniences for almost every OS, it's kinda random as to which OS will work best for each person). Basically, my only problem with PS7, that I can see, is when opening te Blend Modes window on a layer, which I don't believe existed before PS 6, nevermind 5. Everything else seems to juice fine. Come to think of it, I prolly won't install XP at all if that's my only problem... I just wish there was a way around it.

Aye, if you're running that card, it would probably be best to stay with ME until they fix the driver issues (if they ever do!) Good luck, sorry I couldn't be of help to ya...
