I still cannot import pz3's from Poser 5 but I'm waiting to hear from E-on. Until then I thought I'd play a bit with it and here's my first render. I was able to import simple obj files so I got the bench and wall in there. I like the program well enough, it'll be even better once it works with Poser 5. :)

This is such a nice scene of retreat. I have a feeling you're going to be dangerous with Vue once you get Poser 5 to cooperate. Lovely graphic!

Would be curious to hear your answer from e-on when you get one. I am having problems with pz3's also. :o)

I'm curious....do you get an error message or does it just not import the way you think it should? There may be people on the forum that could help (not me, I don't know what I'm doing) if the problm with the pz3's was better described.

Thank you Dialyn. :)

I get an error message. A new install of Vue with an immediate upgrade and the first time importing a P5 pz3 and it gives me a "cannot read.." error and doesn't even ask where poser is. It should ask since the program has never searched for it before then.

Is your Poser program open???

Kendra ( ) posted Sun, 30 November 2003 at 10:24 PM

No. It's never open.

Well, that was the only thing I knew from this forum...that you can't have Poser open when you import the pz3. Sigh. It would have been so nice if that had been an answer; but that would have been too easy. :( Sorry I can't really help.

We had this already in a previous thread. So Kendra knows he must wait for an answer from e-onsoftware, as we have tried all the things that were possible:-)

Sorry...I was tired last night. I should have checked the archives before I posted. Kendra is, I know, very thorough. I know how frustrating these things are. I've turned purple over Poser 5 more than once. Back to playing with water. :)

The Poser 5 imports for pz3 files work for me quite well I do have some problems with textures. But they work with P5 open or closed. It is handy as vue pro will ask you if you want the changed model reloaded. And you can flip back and forth. I originally had a lot of problems in this area and I completely reformated my HD and reinstalled all of the above. Still errors and I was so frustrated that I purchased a new HD and as an after thought a new copy of Win 2000 pro with service pack 4 as my old one was an early upgrade and was a pain to install. What a diferance, all the errors went away and everything is working. In case your wondering I had installed all the ervice packs on my old version. So take a look at your operating system as part of your trouble shooting ---Good luck.

Sadly I had the can't read problem but it was solved (by e-on) by getting me to reselect the Poser 5 directory via renaming the poser 4 directory. You can't seem to read both P5 and P4 files. It has to point to either P4 or P5 and that is the kind it can read. Now that I can bring it in it just hangs. Brand new system with Windows 2000 SP4 and Poser 4/5 and Vue and very little else. Just doesn't work.

dougf, I was having the same problem. I finally decided to uninstall Vue Pro and do a new install and use the new update at e-ons site and manually do the upgrade. That took care of my pz3 problem and a couple other problems I was having also. I renamed my poser 4 directory and pointed Vue to poser 5 but still had problems. After doing a new install of Vue and pointing Vue to poser 5 did I get results with no problems with pz3's.
