I was goofin' around the other night and came up with this old turn-of-the century building. I took turns texturing it with brick or stone mats, but kinda liked the looks of it in this decayed state. The building is about 98% Wings3D, but I think I'll do a lot of the extra details in Bryce. Any ideas as to what else I should do with it(short of deleting the file!)will be thoughfully considered. I thought about making it into a tumble-down old roughneck bar. Thank you for your input.

Great start! I love the air-conditioning unit...nice touch. Looks more like an old apartment building to me...could have a lounge (bar) on the ground floor, though.

Wonderful! We have buildings like that around here, businesses on the bottom and apartments above. This looks great, did you have a picture or something to base your model on? When you're done and happy with it, it would make a really great freebie, hint hint :)

Actually, it reminded me not so much of an apartment buuilding as one of those "residential hotels" ... sort of a flop house. Rooms by the month $50 ... that sort of thing. Which would be perfect to have a roughneck bar in it. It looks great.

@ Ang, I didn't use any reference drawings or photos, but I have been in and around similar old buildings so I let my imagination just go for it. I will offer this building as a freebie, probably an untextured .obj file as it would be a lot easier to compress than a Bryce scene, or obp. file(305KB as opposed to 27.6MB!)Thanks!

Well, CharleyD, the flop houses in your neighborhood are clearly a lot pricier than those in mine. (But, you're right ... I am an old old fart).

Nice job on the building, danamo. I like the peeling paint on the door and the roofline. That really helps it to show its age. I'm thinking abandoned. Put a broken sidewalk around it with papers and a few empty cans or bottles and let's not forget a few broken windows on it. This link is for a site that one of my friends made. He lives in Belgium and is totally into abandoned buildings, as you will see. The site is well put together and very clean. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas.
