Well I got it! Now I read on the side of the box its not compatible with Windows 98! I have to have at least Second Edition. Now I have to format my hard drive just to use it! Ya know what? I think its worth it! I am actually excited about reading a manual. Magick Michael

THe software (Nikon View 6.01) is supposed to only be compatible with Win98 or higher. It is working at the moment but we shall see how long it lasts. If it works until I can format the HD then that is fine. I was planning on going to Win2k in the next month anyway.

Cool Beanzzzzz! happy dance Hey Mike, instead of wiping your drive (if you have to), they do make a Win98 SE upgrade version. Nikon View is a sweet program too. Probably the best software packaged with a DSLR. I think the best overall is still CaptureOne DSLR; but that's just my opinion. :) -=>Donald

Congrats on the camera. 98SE is long forgotten by a lot of people who make up the system requirements, even though most things will run just fine on it anyway. If you aren't having a problem with it now, you should be okay. Although Win2K is definitely worth the upgrade. I went from 98SE to Win2K and never looked back, although if you are any kind of game player, XP might be a better choice...Otherwise, win2K is very stable and probably the best version of Windows I've had.
