I was thinking I was gonna have a bit more but my computer kinda took a vacation for a moment or three so I figured I would offer this character shot .. He isn't even an orc! Pretty much have 90 percent of the figures done. Just need to figure out how to render them in stages since my computer won't handle them all in one scene.

Oh yeah .. this is just an un-touched render.

Those are beautiful textures you've got on him. And he just looks great. Dwarf, right? I have absolutely no doubt that your final image will just be amazing. =) Rosh

Thanks and yeah. Gimli the dwarf. I am still ttrying to figure out how to put all of it together without killing my computer but thanks .. will be done soon I hope.

Do you know any goverment officials who might be able to get you a grant for a better computer? This is absolutely remarkable, and I just thought of another requirement, you are required to freely distribute all characters created and used :). These guys are absolutely splendid, I can't wait to see what you make of it all. Keep up the good work. Tempest

Thanks Tempest. And unfortunately I don't ... I have the RAM I think but my 6 Gigs are sadly lacking for the final scene. A lot of it is using the Zygote Costume CD so it wouldn't be the same if you didn't have it but I will release some of it. Got the final scene still coming. I WILL have it by Mid September at the latest.

Magnificent Ghostofmacbeth ,this project is goin great. BestBuy has a 13.6 gig Westerndigital HDD for 99 bucks. will your system support an additional drive?. Hawkfyr

Think so through a nice chaining but unfortunately that is probably PC ... Best Buy normally doesn't know what a Mac is by us. And it is actually further but I thought to tease :) ... Later and thanks

There isn't one around and no biggie that you didn't remember ...Good to know that they run fairly cheap for someone. The least expensive one I found was 179 for 4 megs I think ..

ronin ( ) posted Thu, 17 August 2000 at 1:31 PM

I may be sounding really stupid here, but can't the macs use the same harddrives as the pc's??? Remember the harddrives aren't preformatted when you buy them. You have to do that your self.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Thu, 17 August 2000 at 4:04 PM

They have the wrong number of pins etc I am prety sure ...If I could do wiring and stuff then maybe I could or if there was an adaptor

ronin ( ) posted Thu, 17 August 2000 at 5:20 PM

Ghost, I would check again. As far as I can learn from Apple's website you can use standard IBM harddrives for your mac. As long as the machine is fairly new and doesn't use soem sort of completely obsolete format. Any Ultra DMA/ATA 33 or 66 harddrive should work just fine. Which means that you can go purchase the 99 dollar harddrive and have plenty of space. Just to be on the same side, email Apple's Support and ask them what kind of harddrives you can use in your rig. That should clear up any misunderstandings. Regards Ronin

Thanks and that is the Zygote beard and my own texture, transmap combo ...

F3nix ( ) posted Tue, 12 September 2000 at 1:19 AM

Ya one of those external HD's should work you may just need a adapter for the thing so it'll plug into the mac. I personally detest mac's but thats just me :P -Phoenix http://www.wheres.com/etc/phoenix
