Subject: Gah-Leee, SHAZAM! ----What A Concept!

Veritas777 ( ) posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 8:26 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 3:25 PM

Rushed over an bought this new Vicky concept from DKE at DAZ. Don't like the initial pictures creep you out! This is a VERY CLEVER concept, and one that MANY PEOPLE have been wanting in Poserland! Features Fully Victoria 1 & 2 compatible Uses all existing Victoria 1 & 2 textures without modification Accepts all existing Victoria 1 & 2 morph targets Fits all existing Victoria 1 & 2 clothing (except shoes and bracelets) Head and face jewelry can easily be scaled up and repositioned. Hair can also be easily scaled and repositioned, and several Hair Fitting pose files have been included for the more popular styles. Use existing Victoria body poses, to which you may then wish to apply further stress to specific extremities to fully achieve that Ultra-Realistic appeal. Use existing Victoria hand poses, (slight modification are sometimes desirable to fully take advantage of the additional styling possibilities.) Character includes the dke morph AutoLoad feature Automatically loads, inserts and creates morph target channels Provides specialized User-Addin feature to allow you to include your personal favorite head and body morphs, without having to create new characters (requires MorphManager or a similar product) Includes the dke Character Dials body part enhancements Allows BODY and Full Body Morph (fbm) channels to be saved with poses Items included with the Shazam package Revised obj file Specialized cr2's User AutoLoad injection scripts and templates to allow you automatically include and load your favorite morphs 100+ addon morphs 20+ Muscle morphs for a defined musculature system to suit the styling 15+ Abdomen morphs for an ultra-realistic defined 6-pack 30+ Head and face morphs 15+ Breast morphs 15+ Waist morphs 20+ Character fbm's (Full Body Morphs) (Please note that the majority of these morphs can also be used with standard Victoria based models by copying the morphs using MorphManager or a similar product.) Poses 30+ Partial Poses to allow you to mix and match arm, leg and torso settings 30+ Full poses, including both pose and morph-only variations 10+ Pre-built face settings - some using the standard V1 dials and others showing the possibilities of the additional head morphs A variety of pose/MOR files for setting and clearing the Default Shazam settings Numerous other specialized pose files for purposes such as HairFitting

"Don't like the initial pictures creep you out!" Sorry, too late. :-) But I must admit your enthusiasm for all things Poser is admirable.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 8:34 PM

I've just started to play around with it, but the most interesting feature, I think, is the ability to use other HEADS on the V2 body. I've read the DAZ site info and the readme, and this appears to be what you can do using Morph Manager and the special DKE loader. Awaiting someone more technically brilliant than me to give this new character a spin to make sure what all the potentials are- but they seem HUGE for custom characters using HEADS from other characters!

I've already found that she is really EXCELLENT for the Z-Tooning! This is an ideal Characturist model. Using Maya hair, one of my favorite Pre-Teen MilGirl textures, and tweaking the head to 80 percent size, and then running the Ockham Z-Toon script, she looks like a really well drawn and air-brushed cartoon character! DKE should definately come out with a version for M2 as well. Cartoon characturists would really go NUTS with this type of look. Extremely useful in the commercial art field, which seems to be one of the places DKE was suggesting in the promo page. You can also do those trick fish-eye lens photo effects where the character has a huge looking head and body that appears to zoom down to small feet (In a photo studio this is done with a wide-angle lense and the photographer standing up on a step ladder.)

I don't exactly know what to think of this figure from the images I've seen so far...she almost looks like a Toonimal Victoria 2. :) I do think that we're getting a little saturated with toon figures though; making add-ons and extra morphs for the ones we do have would be more productive in my opinion. And Koshini and the Anime Doll are still my favorite toons...Anime Doll is the only TRUE anime figure out there and Koshini is guaranteed to be cute no matter what you do to her. ;) Take care. SnowS

I've been playing around with Shazam for quite a while now and she is just great. You can add all your favourite Vicky HeadMTs with a special script and it loads them on start. Very clever concept and easy to use. I have some images of Shazam in my gallery - they are all labeled Shazam and they are all on the first page.

OOps forgot to say: You are moving your favourite Vicky HeadMTs with MorphManager into a special script and not to the Cr2. The Shazam Cr2 will load this script and add your morphs.

Here's a silly question.....do you have to have both V1 and V2 to use her? I'm definitely interested, but never purchased V1.

mondoxjake ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 2:21 AM

Sandoppe: Usually when items are listed as such V1 and V2, it is to point out that it can be used with either of them depending on which one you have, or with both if you have both.

Puntomaus ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 2:27 AM

Pokydots, I do not have the final version yet but the testversion had a script folder in the Shazam Geometrie folder. There is a special script you can use to add your favourite Head- and Body MTs to Shazam. Before I say anything wrong that might have changed in between you might want to look into these folders for the ReadMe. I am sure there is one with detailed and very easy to follow instructions.

Cartoon... character... overload...! Script loader thingy sounds pretty cool. I do think this character would be great for carictures, and "Mad" style satires. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY R E A L L Y wish people would stop IGNORANTLY throwing the word anime around. This character is 100% western style. It has ABSOFLABBIN--LUTELY nothin to do with any known Japanese art style! (although I am sure there is some weirdo in a dark corner of Osaka who draws like that. :p)I mean geez! At least Koshini had some traits in common with Japanese character design, but she is still mostly a western style character too.

elgyfu ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 9:10 AM

Well you could draw a parrallel to the Super Deformed class of anime character but I have to agree that this is not an anime character per se.

Caly ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 10:45 AM

I think of 'Toon' as Western style and 'Anime' is something very different. What we have received is a ton of 'Toon' stuff, a lot of it akin to Tex Avery. Only the AnimeDoll by Maya really really feels like 'Anime' to me. :)

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 11:08 AM

Forgot to ask: Is the Morph Manager you all are talking about, the one in free stuff by Mason, or is there some other gadget needed? Thanks! :)

mondoxjake ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 11:32 AM

In regard to my answer to sandoppe and relayed to Randym77: On some version characters such as Vicky 1 and 2, sometimes there is a morphing difference especially in clothing. What I am saying is the item would work for both, but if it was designed on the mesh of Vicky 2 then any morphs involved might not work exactly right for Vicky 1 and would require some tinkering for a fit. In my experience I have found that with certain modifications you can interexchange a lot of stuff among Vicky 1 and 2 and Stephanie. [And of course most V2 stuff can be used with the Daz Millenium Girls.]

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 12:45 PM

Yes, sandoppe, it's the same Morph Manager by Mason in Free Stuff; you use it to copy morph targets from one character's CR2 to another, or to delete morphs from a CR2.

Woah pokeydots! Totally awesome! I'm always impressed by how much better people are at using the stuff I make than I am :) I'm buidling a Shazam User Gallery, so if you wouldn't mind including a pic+ of your's, drop me an IM or email. Thought I better leap in here. Been busy writing some tutorial's on how to use/add the Shazam Morph AutoLoad features to ANY existing cr2. So I missed the forums for a couple days and hope my answer doesn't get buried/missed way down here at the bottom. Just wanted to say she will take ANY V1/V2 morphs. You use MorphManager like usual, although there are 2 specialized "User" scripts, and you copy the morphs into these scripts rather than into the cr2. The scripts are in the Geometries/mgToon/ScriptsV1 folder, and there is also a text file there called "readmeShazScripts.txt" that explains the idea. The two scripts are called "Addin-UserBody.pz2" and "Addin-UserHead.pz2", but you should see the readme for full information :) The reason for using these specialized script files is that any morphs added to these scripts will have the channels automatically CREATED if neccessary! This is similar to the standard Injection Pose idea, except for my Morph AutoLoad features the channels don't have to previously exist in the cr2.

Hi Pokeydots Hope this link comes through properly:

Shazam User Gallery This is the main user image gallery, and at the bottom of the page there is a link to the readme for the AutoLoad scripting features. Yes there will be a Michael version. The Victoria 1/2 version is just the first of four. There is also versions for M1/2, V3 and M3. These are all nearing completion and now that the V1/2 version has finally been released, I am working closely with DAZ on the release schedule for the other's. Personally I prefer the 1/2 versions since they are a lot easier on system resources, plus I have a TON more stuff for them than for the version 3 characters. The increased poly density does offer some additional possibilities though. The caricature angle being the most obvious of those, and there are discussions being held specifically on that topic.
